Qatar Charity Carries out
The second Stage of Relief Campaign
In the Horn of Africa/ Kenya.

During the second half of March, 2006, Mr. 'Abdullah Husain al-Ni'mah, the Executive Manager of Qatar Charity, headed the Relief delegation in order to carry out the second stage of the Charity's campaign to relieve the victims of the Horn of Africa/ Kenya in association with the " Muslim Youth Society."

Mr. al-Ni'mah stated that:" This stage will cover the provinces of Ojair, Gressa and Mandira, since these areas are adjacent to Somalia borders.

Qatar Charity will participate in setting up camps for the victims whose number, according to FAO estimate, may amount to some eleven million people in the Horn of Africa.

"Qatar Charity plans to pass from 'Relief Stage' to ' Welfare Stage ' via creating new resources of water to benefit from rain."al-Ni'mah added.

During this visitation, Qatar Charity's Relief Delegation (1) distributed foodstuffs to the victims of drought; (2) opened a water-well for Tula Village since inhabitants of this village used to bring water from Ojair,30 k.m. far away, by the means of animals; and (3)supported 120 poor families.

In the same vein, the Charity Delegation did its best efforts to save and support 'Ulwaq Village, the most affected area, where most animals were lost. Thus, some 4143 persons (of which 800 persons from 'Ulwaq Village) benefited from the distribution of 36 tons of foodstuffs.

In truth, the delegation was faced with so many tragic situations during this humanitarian relief campaign.

In Mandira area, due to tragic circumstances and upon the request of its official Chief, the delegation managed the digging of water-well, where around 18.000 people are in need of water.
