Qatar Charity sent a relief caravan to Imran province in Yemen in order to alleviate the sorrows of the displaced in Sa‘dah.
The caravan included 300 tents, 2000mattresses, 2000 blankets, 500 kitchen tools, 500 plastic mattresses, 2000 mosquitoes nets, 500 packets for cleaning, 100 mobile water closets and 3 electrical generators. The total cost amounted to QR1.000.000.
On this occasion, a delegation from Qatar Charity went to Yemen led by Dr. Saleh al-Yazidi in order to supervise the distribution of the relief items which the Charity has shipped from its strategic stockpile in Dubai.
The delegation included Mrs. Sheikha al-Miftah, officer in charge of quality projects at the Charity, Mrs. Fauzia Is-haaq, officer in benefactresses Relations section, Mr. Yusuf al-Swaidi, Mr. Fahd Ghareeb, Mr. Jassim al –Mullah and Mr. Waleed Lutfi, two volunteers.
In a press release, Dr al-yazizdi said: “Having done a field survey of the needy displaced in Imran, Items of relief (as coupons show) have been distributed in cooperation with The Charitable Social Reform Society in Yemen.”
“This relief caravan was the first to be sent to the displaced in Yemen by Qatar Charity. The visit constituted an important opportunity to recognize the needs of the displaced. I wish that Qatar Charity will offer more and more relief items in the near future, since this demonstrates Qatari human feeling of their brothers’ difficult circumstances in Sa‘dah.” He added.
In the same context, the delegation paid a visitation to the camps of the displaced in Hijjah province in order to recognize their humanitarian sufferance.
It is worth mentioning that the caravan arrived in Yemen from the Charity’s strategic stockpile “ HRD NETWORK” in Dubai. The Charity has had an agreement with WFP of UN since 2008 in respect of storing its relief items to be used in case of catastrophes and wars.
Qatar Charity sent a similar caravan to Swat Valley in Pakistan in 2009 in order to relieve the victims of war in that province.
Distribution of relief items in Yemen has happened together with the Charity’s project “ Ma‘een : Fountainhead” ,which has been established to be an urgent response to catastrophes.
Furthermore, the Charity spares no effort to provide this fund with QR10.000.000 to urgently respond to catastrophes.
