Qatar Charity’s Succor to Palestinians Includes:Heath, Educational and Developmental Projects and Sponsorships

Qatar Charity has dedicated the sum of Q.R 41.476.000, of which 24.586.287 for humanitarian projects including heath, water, education, poverty fighting and development. The Charity has also sponsored some 6487 orphans, poor families, disabled and students at a cost of Q.R. 16.889.400.

Since Gaza Strip is experiencing the worst human catastrophe, the Charity has favored it with a special care. So, the Charity has assumed to : (1) pay all costs of the first stage to operate “The Children’s Specialized Hospital”,(2) furnish medical apparatuses for the handicapped,(3) offer urgent medical aid,(4) provide “al-Shifaa Hospital” with necessary medical tools,(5) distribute sacrifices meat and food baskets, and (6) finance some educational projects such as computers and furniture for study halls at “The Islamic University.”

The following report demonstrates the Charity’s most important projects carried out in Palestine last year:
1- 141 projects at a cost of Q.R. 12.000.000, of which 18 health projects, 85 water projects,12 cultural projects,9 educational projects,7 social projects,3 investment projects and one project for poverty fighting.
2- 85 new projects at a cost of Q.R. 12.785.000 are under execution.

Health Projects

 Qatar Charity launched its urgent relief campaign July 2007 since Gazans experienced the worst deterioration in health services due to unjust siege. So, the Charity provided al-Shifaa Hospital with necessary medical tools. It also furnished the West Bank Hospitals with medicines. The cost of this project amounted to Q.R.774548 for a period of six months. The Charity also financed the first stage to operate “The Children’s Specialized Hospital via providing medical and electrical apparatuses at a cost of Q.R. 496.000. At the same time, as a form of health support, it paid costs of medical operations for the Palestinian families. Last year also the Charity assumed the project of providing the Intifada Handicapped with necessary medical tools via as-Salamah Society for taking care of the Intifada injured persons and in association with “The Society College”. This project costed Q.R. 250.000 and lasted for six months.

Productive projects

Qatar Charity has allocated Q.R. 991519 for establishing some productive projects in Gaza. It has given good loans to fresh university graduates in order to help them find suitable jobs. This project was carried out through Nattuf Society for Developing Environment and Society in Palestine.

Educational projects

Qatar Charity spent around Q.R. 3.400.000 on nine educational projects, among them were:(1) Q.R. 1.810.00 for the preparation of computer labs, furnishing study halls and educational tools for al-Quds Building at Islamic University of Gaza,(2) Q.R.453600 for “al-Summ ( Deaf) School in TulKarem,(3) preparation of Qur’an Centre in Nablus, and (4)Q.R. 1.000.000 for completing the project of al-Rashidia School in Qabalaan village. The Charity also allocated Q.R.3.875.000 for 5 educational projects, including supporting the educational institutions and poor students in three stages: (1) transporting the poor students to university in Gaza,(2)study fees ,and(3)financing labs in Gaza and the West Bank.

Food Basket Project

Qatar Charity carried out a developmental project last December for the needy Palestinians via distributing “Food Baskets”. Some 1860 poor families benefitted from the project at a cost of Q.R.356500.

It is worth mentioning that Qatar Charity has recently launched “The Basket of Good for Gaza” project which aims at meeting the daily essential needs for 5000 families so as to lighten the human suffering which the Gazians face due to siege.

The Charity introduced several choices to help the Palestinians, among them: paying the value of “The Basket of Good for Gaza.” Each basket costs Q.R.1000.It meets the needs of a family of 8 persons for one month.

In the same vein, it is possible to sponsor a family for three months via “Help Basket” for Q.R.3000 or for six months via “Righteousness Basket” for Q.R. 6000 or for one year via “Grant Basket” for Q.R.12000.

Reconstruction of Houses

The Charity has allocated Q.R.16.666.667 in order to carry out several projects during the current period (Nov.2007- Feb.2008). This project aims at reconstructing the houses of the poor.

Sponsorship

Qatar Charity sponsored 4606 orphans (1927 in Gaza), 1107 families (250 in Gaza), 718 disable persons(420 in Gaza) and 50 students (16 in Gaza) at a cost of Q.R. 16.889.400, i.e. Q.R. 921200 monthly.
