In the framework of its program of the productive projects, Qatar Charity's Office in Niger has organized a series of training workshops in favor of the cooperatives in Dosso and Tillaberi provinces for the second year. Some 50.000 persons, one hundred societies from 15 villages, will get benefit from this program.
Activities of this program aim at procuring "food security" for beneficiaries via the productive projects such as: grain mills and banks, keeping and breeding animals, carts, improved seeds, fertilizers, agricultural tools, in addition to training and product development.
Tillaberi province, which is 80 km far from the Nigerian Capital Niamey, was the starting point for the first series of workshops to cover seven villages, 10 persons from each village and 5 promoters from the Charity.Then, some 120 persons from five other villages, 10 persons each, took part in the second series of workshop which was held in Kuta village.
Training courses and workshops aim at providing participants with special skills on: social life and administrative organization within coops and societies, in addition to projects conduct and how to prepare natural fertilizers.
Training courses and workshops were conducted in association with professional offices and experts in developing the country.
The wind-up party was attended by the Governor of Kolo district, mayors, chieftains and heads of coops and societies. The attendance expressed their pleasure and thanked Qatar Charity for its great efforts in developing the area and supporting the needy.
In conclusion, certificates of participation were distributed to the participants, while the Governor of Kolo district offered the Government's certificate of appreciation
to Qatar Charity for its efforts in 2008 in the countryside of Niger.
It is worth mentioning that around 73277 persons benefited from the "Productive Projects" program of 2008 in Niger. This, for sure, has resulted in success and satisfaction among the people of Dosso and Tillaberi.
