Qatar Charity Inaugurates the "Al-Mustafa Mosque" and a Quran Memorization and Studies Center

With the generous support of the people of Qatar, Qatar Charity has inaugurated the Al-Mustafa Mosque, located near Military Hospital No. 37 in Accra, Ghana. The mosque, equipped with modern facilities, serves as a prominent Islamic landmark and is home to a Quran Memorization and Studies Center, further strengthening its role as a beacon of faith in the capital.

The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Vice Admiral Issa Adam Yakubu, Chief of Naval Staff, who served as the honorary guest, alongside Colonel Prosper Aibor, Commander of Military Hospital No. 37, Brigadier General Kumi Wood, Director of Religious Affairs, and Mr. Tariq Marabi, Representative of the One Ummah Organization in Ghana. All attendees expressed their profound appreciation for Qatar Charity's significant efforts in supporting the Ghanaian community.

Official Recognition

Brigadier General Kumi Wood, Director of Religious Affairs, expressed his joy at the mosque's opening, underlining its importance for both military personnel and civilians. He emphasized that it was a great honor to participate in the inauguration of this religious facility, which provides a vital space for worship for the staff of Military Hospital No. 37, defense personnel, civilian employees, families, and visiting public. Colonel Aibor, on behalf of the senior military leadership, also extended heartfelt thanks to Qatar Charity and the Qatari donors for their generous support.

A Spiritual Beacon

Vice Admiral Issa Adam Yakubu highlighted the crucial role of the newly built mosque, emphasizing its significance as a spiritual sanctuary for military personnel and their families. He described the mosque as a modern beacon of faith, symbolizing the diversity and unity within their community.

Commitment to a Worthy Nation

On this occasion, Mr. Tariq Marabi, Representative of the One Ummah Organization in Ghana and spokesperson for the individual donors who contributed to the mosque’s redevelopment, expressed his gratitude to the military leadership for their partnership with Qatar Charity in the reconstruction of the mosque. Marabi thanked everyone involved in making the project a success and emphasized the responsibility to give back to the Ghanaian community, which had provided them with opportunities for growth and development. He acknowledged Qatar Charity’s credibility and stellar reputation in Ghana, which motivated the donors to support such a meaningful initiative.

Collaborative Success

Engineer Hassan Oda, Director of Qatar Charity’s office in Ghana and Ivory Coast, commended the positive and collaborative efforts that contributed to the success of the project. He noted that the mosque has now become a hub for worship, learning, and spiritual growth, benefiting both the military community and the wider public, thanks to its modern infrastructure and well-equipped facilities. Oda also expressed deep gratitude to the people of Qatar and the donors for their ongoing generosity, as well as to his team at Qatar Charity’s Ghana office for overseeing the mosque’s renovation.

A Modern Design

Qatar Charity has fully renovated and rebuilt the mosque, transforming it into a state-of-the-art religious facility. The mosque now features a 600-square-meter prayer hall with an office, ten ablution rooms, and a Quran Memorization and Studies Center that includes three classrooms, an office, and an imam’s residence. Additional facilities include a mechanical well, a dedicated area for the washing of the deceased, a residential building, and beautifully landscaped grounds. The entrance has been enhanced with a large gate for vehicle access and a smaller gate for pedestrians, furthering the mosque’s overall aesthetic appeal.

This project stands as a testament to Qatar Charity’s commitment to promoting faith, education, and community development, creating a lasting impact on the people of Ghana.
