Al-Wakra Team Shines in Indonesia through QC’s “Competitors2” Program

Al Wakra seeks to finance the construction of a school and (25) houses at a cost of 1.5 million riyals to benefit 1,250 people

During the visit, the team organized a match for the orphans sponsored by Qatar Charity and presented gifts to them at the end of the match.

A delegation from the Al-Wakrah Sports Club Team, participating in Qatar Charity’s “Competitors 2” program, visited Indonesia to know about the nature and location of the developmental project, which it intends to implement within the framework of the competition with Al Ahli Sports Club.

This visit was organized as part of the activities of "Contestants 2", a weekly radio program produced by Qatar Charity in partnership with Al Quran Al Kareem Radio, which gives opportunities to various community institutions to participate in the charitable, humanitarian and developmental work as well as in creative community marketing with new, innovative, interesting and loving ways.

The delegation included Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al Buainain, Captain Yusuf Ahmed, Captain Jassim Yousif Al Tamimi, Captain Jassim Mohammed Ahmed Hassan Al Hardan, Captain Nasser Sultan, Media-Person Hassan Jassim, and Ibrahim Fetian, Head of Documentation and Monitoring at Media Department of Qatar Charity.

On the first day of the visit, the delegation toured the city of Bogor, where they visited one of the centers built by Qatar Charity in 2015, which is now attended by 700 orphan and poor students.

At the center, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Buainain gave a lecture on the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the delegation surprised the students with the gifts, leaving a great impact on them.

Then, a football match was organized between Al Wakra Team and Qatar Charity Orphans Team and some gifts were distributed at the end of the match. The delegation promised to complete construction of the classrooms at the center with the donation of a philanthropist.

Meeting with the Qatari Ambassador

The delegation met with Qatari Ambassador in Indonesia Ahmed Jassem Al-Hamr and presented Qatar Charity Shield and Al Wakra Shield to him.

The director of the QC Office welcomed the delegation and gave a presentation on its works carried out from 2004 to 2017 and the delegation also met more than 30 young orphans at the office, where they distributed some toys and gifts to them.

In the City of Garut

On the following morning, the delegation headed to the city of Garut in the governorate of West Java, where they met with the President of the city who informed them about the flood that affected the city and talked about the distinguished relationship between Qatar Charity and the people of Garut.

He added that dozens of mosques were built, a number of educational projects were implemented and hundreds of the wells were drilled in the city by Qatar Charity and donors from the State of Qatar.

The President of the city thanked the people of Qatar for their efforts made in the past years, pointing out that Qatar Charity has started the work to build 100 homes for affected people.

“I came here with Al-Wakrah Team after we knew that you requested to add 25 homes to this project and build a school. We will work with Qatar Charity to complete the important and vital project for those affected," said Sheikh Ahmed Al Buainain.

Social Housing

Then, the delegation went to the place of the project of Al Kawthar Complex, which includes a school with 6 classrooms and 25 houses, noting that the delegation seeks to fund this project at a cost of 1.5 million riyals to benefit 1,250 people.

The team viewed the location of the new project and disseminated information through their personal accounts on social media, in order to finance the project as soon as possible. The team will talk about its humanitarian observations through the “Competitors” program on Al Quran Al Kareem Radio.

First Edition

Qatar Charity launched the second season of the “Competitors” program at the end of 2017. In the first edition, the competition was held between the hero players of the Golden Generation who represented of Al-Sadd Sports Club and Al-Arabi Sports Club, as they enriched the country’s sports.
