The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC)’s team continues its voluntary efforts to finance a multi-service center project in Indonesia, which will include educational facilities, a mosque and a water well in addition to other services. The project is expected to benefit 1,100 people at a total cost of QR2mn.The team has so far managed to collect QR 527,000, while the remaining amount of QR 1,473,000 is needed. 

The efforts of the team come as part of the “Competitors” program, a radio broadcast, produced by Qatar Charity (QC) in cooperation with Al Quran Al Kareem Radio in Qatar.

In view of the developmental impact of this project, MEC’s team participating in the radio program ‘Competitors’ went to Indonesia to support the project, noting that it is expected to contribute to the provision of excellent educational services and support students in need.

The team also pointed out that the donation in favor of this project can easily be made through QC’s website and App as well as through its 25 branches within the country and 92 collection points in commercial complexes.

Before starting the marketing of this project, the team including Mohamed Al Ansari, Faisal Al Haithmi, in addition to Khalid Abu Mozah and Ibrahim Fetian, visited Indonesia to choose an appropriate project and its place.

The visit began with a meeting with the Qatari Ambassador Mr. Ahmed Jassim Al-Hamr at the embassy in Jakarta. The delegation then paid a visit to the land of the project, where the multi-service center will be built in a poor village of the Bekasi city.

The delegation was welcomed by some parliament members, the chief district officer and the local institute, which is a partner in this project, in addition of a number of students of the institute.

Dr. Khairan Ahmad Arif, head of the institute said “we rented a house to use it as a school, due to the need of this region for education,” noting that 55 students have been registered, while a large number of the students are willing to be enrolled, which is beyond the capacity of the school.  

He added that the multi-service center would provide free education services to needy students of this poor region.

For his part, Faisal Al Haithmi, a member of the team participating in the “Competitors” program, said “we came here as representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce’s team and we will make every effort to build the center for you.”

The visit was an opportunity for the delegation to know QC’s projects that have been implemented and that are under implementation.
