The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and Qatar Charity (QC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation and partnership in order to achieve their common goals in various humanitarian and development fields of public interest.

The MoU was signed at Ashghal’s headquarters by Dr. Saad bin Ahmed Al-Muhannadi, president of Ashghal and Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, CEO of Qatar Charity.

The terms of the agreement focus on the joint coordination to support humanitarian and development efforts, activate voluntary initiatives and activities, participate in humanitarian work, organize various field visits for this purpose, support donations, organize training workshops, conferences, awareness events and others.

On this occasion, Yousif Bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, CEO of Qatar Charity, said “we are pleased to have signed an agreement with Ashghal. We look forward to establishing a solid foundation for cooperation to serve our community and humanitarian issues worldwide, which will reflect the bright face of the Qatari people and their love to do charity.

He also expressed the hope that the officials of both parties would put the terms of the agreement into practice in order to achieve its intended goals.

Al-Kuwari explained that voluntary and humanitarian work is not confined to any organization, but it is a community responsibility, which involves the private sector, the public sector and the influential figures of the community along with charities. He also looked forward to signing cooperation and partnership agreements with ministries, government agencies, private institutions and companies, with the aim of making philanthropy a prevailing culture for all.

For his part, Saad bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi, president of Ashghal, said "the signing of the MoU with Qatar Charity today marks the culmination of the efforts that have been made and will continue to help our brothers inside or outside our country.

Our latest cooperation with the charity included the distribution of 1,000 meals to the laborers working on Ashghal’s highway projects through the “We Feel You” initiative. It also included the participation of Ashghal’s staff in the third edition of the "Competitors" program, which was launched by the charity in partnership with Al Quran Al Kareem Radio. Donations amounted to over QR1.2mn to build a health center and secondary school in Sudan as part of our participation in the program.

He noted that Ashghal attaches great importance to social responsibility, and believes it is a duty of all governmental and private bodies, stressing that cooperation between "Ashghal" and the Qatar Charity would be expanded to include the implementation of many charitable projects inside and outside the country.  Ashghal will participate in a number of QC’s events and contribute to its many activities, Al Mohannadi added.
