Qatar Charity provides heating facilities to Syrian refugees in Lebanon

Qatar Charity (QC) has embarked on the implementation of four projects to contribute to providing the necessary heating facilities and treatment for Syrian refugees in Lebanon, with the aim of helping them cope with the cold of winter. The implementation of these projects came as part of QC’s “Below Zero” campaign, and are expected to benefit more than 21,000 people.

The first project is expected to help 2,000 refugee households with over 10,000 people and will provide them with heating fuel, food parcels, blankets and warm clothes. This project also includes the delivery of heating fuel to a hospital, two health centers and a school and the provision of medicines for children and the elderly for 4 months of winter through a hospital and four health centers in places like Chebaa and  Arsal and in cities like Beirut and Sidon

The second project focuses on providing two Syrian refugee schools near the Syrian-Lebanese border with heating fuel to protect refugee children from colds and winter diseases. The project is expected to benefit 655 students and teachers throughout the winter months.

The third project aims at distributing winter clothes to 1,000 Syrian children in the areas of asylum in Lebanon. These clothes include jackets, sweaters, a winter hats, gloves, socks.

The fourth project is about a medical campaign in various governorates of Lebanon to provide treatment and medicine for Syrian refugees in order to protect them from the most deadly winter diseases. The campaign also aims at providing the heating facilities for medical centers and panoramic apparatus for Al Rahma Medical Center in Chebaa. The project is expected to benefit 9,200 people.

Qatar Charity has launched its “Below Zero” winter campaign under the slogan “Share the Warmth” to help the displaced, refugees and the needy in nine countries cope with the cold of winter.

The campaign was launched from the Al Bayli Camp for Syrian refugees on the Turkish-Syrian border.

On this occasion, a delegation from Qatar Charity, has distributed 2,850 food baskets to all the families living in the camp, and sent 20 trucks loaded with food baskets into Syria to be distributed to the displaced Syrians, while other 60 trucks will be dispatched for the same purpose by the end of December.

The campaign aims to raise QR66m to provide the necessary winter needs for 800,000 people in three main areas, which are food, shelter and heating.
