Over 2.6 million people worldwide to benefit from Qatar Charity’s Ramadan projects
Qatar Charity, with the support from benefactors in Qatar, has embarked on the implementation of its “Ramadan, the Gift of Giving” campaign at an estimated cost of QR 54.5mn, benefiting 2.6 million people in nearly 30 countries of the world.
Qatar Charity allocated a sum of 27.3 million Qatari riyals for three main projects, which are Iftar Projects, Eid Clothing, and Zakat al-Fitr. Some 1,654,000 people are expected to benefit from these projects, while 27.2 million Qatar riyals were allocated for the distribution of food aid in areas suffering from disasters and crises. The number of beneficiaries is expected to reach 946,000 persons.
Qatar Charity is implementing Iftar projects in 25 countries across the globe, which include iftar tables and food baskets. Qatar charity is carrying out Iftar tables throughout Ramadan at the cost of nearly 17.2 million riyals, benefiting more than 1.2 million people in 18 countries worldwide, which are Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kyrgyzstan, Palestine, Turkey, Burkina Faso, Tunisia, Sudan, Mali, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Somalia, Ghana, Nepal, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
Qatar Charity is also providing poor families with Ramadan baskets, which contain essential foodstuffs necessary for the holy month, benefiting 115,00 people for a whole month at the cost of QR4.1mn. These baskets are distributed in seven countries, which are India, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Senegal, and the Philippines.
The distribution of Zakat al-Fitr aims at reducing the financial burden on poor families. Some 5.4 million riyals have been allocated for this project and nearly 347,500 persons are expected to benefit from the project in 24 countries.
Qatar Charity is also focusing on the “Eid Clothing” project, to provide clothes to orphans, whom it sponsors. Some 3,000 orphans in 26 countries worldwide are expected to benefit from this project worth QR 547,000.
Qatar Charity also allocated QR 27.2mn for food aid distributed to displaced, affected and refugee persons in crisis-stricken zones. The project is expected to reach 946,000 beneficiaries in Syria, Palestine, Somalia, and other countries.
