Qatar Charity signs contract to establish an integrated village in Kosovo
Qatar Charity (QC) has signed a cooperation agreement with the municipality of Mitrovica in Kosovo to build an integrated village for families suffering from poor economic conditions, at a total cost estimated at more than 2 million euros.
The agreement was signed by Director of Projects Management in QC Khalid Abdullah al Yafie and Mayor of Mitrovica Agim Bhatiri, in the presence of the Ambassador of Qatar to Kosovo HE Ali bin Hamad al Marri and Deputy Minister of Interior of Kosova Salami Shkodra.
The project, which will be built on an area of 3.27 hectares, includes 40 houses, a school, health clinic, service centre, mosque, shops and green spaces, providing an integrated environment.
Under the agreement, Qatar Charity contributes one 1.5 million euros of the total cost of the project estimated at 2.25 million euros, while the municipality of Mitrovica contributes the rest. Around 6,000 people are expected to benefit from the project.
In a speech at the signing ceremony, the Qatari ambassador said: “We in the State of Qatar are keen to strengthen our relationship with Kosovo and give it great attention”.
For his part, Bhatiri expressed his pleasure at concluding this agreement and praised HH the Amir of Qatar, Qatar’s Government and people for their keen interest in assisting their brothers in Kosovo.
It is noteworthy that the projects of Qatar Charity in Kosovo cover different segments and diverse areas, most notably, the care for orphans and the disabled and families with limited income, where the number of sponsors have nearly reached 3000, and in the field of education and training benefited more than 4500 people from the Qatar Training Center.
The number of income-generating projects reached more than 500 projects, while the number of projects implemented in the field of water and sanitation reached more than 800 projects, with 50 development projects built, in addition to Houses for the Poor.
