QC Prepares for the Launch of

QC finished filming the third edition of its reality TV show 'One Heart' near the Turkey-Syria borders. Several famous people were in the show such as Dr. Salman Al Ouda and a group of media, dawa and sports stars from Qatar, the Gulf and the Arab World. The show will be displayed during the coming Ramadan 1437 AH.

"One Heart" TV show aims at introducing the humanitarian issues to the public, and attracting support in a spiritual and exciting manner. It will include lots of adventures and surprises. It also presents solutions in a creative way.

Awen Initiative

This year, the program focused on the sufferings of the Syrian refugees, considering their issue the greatest of all disasters around the world. The members visited the refugees' camps near the Turkey-Syria borders in multiple areas of Ghazi, Gaziantep, Antakya, Kilis and others. In cooperation and coordination with the regional partners of QC there, the teams paid multiple visits to QC's projects in Turkey which target this group of people.

The program also sought to show Turkey's huge role, as a country and people, in taking care of and sheltering the Syrian refugees. Turkey offered them relief aids, medications and free education. It also established camps for them. Turkey is considered the country with the biggest number of Syrian refugees; i.e. an average of more than 3,000,000 refugees found across the different Turkish cities and territories.

During the show, Dr. Al Ouda and the participants spoke about Awen Initiative for the Empowerment and Development of Syrian Refugees which was recently released by QC. They clarified the different aspects of this initiative; especially relating to improving charity work and moving it from relief aids stage to become sustainable development. It aims at improving the Syrians' capabilities and training them so as to work and become financially independent. This way, a healthy society would be built, clear of any social diseases which had broken many societies apart.

The activities which showed the great efforts of the participating teams were related to displaying the success stories of the Syrian refugees in Turkey. Some of them became merchants, others became employees; some others worked in agriculture, raising cattle and other arts and crafts.

The Three Teams

In addition to Sheikh Salman Ouda, the number of participants reached around 15 figures divided into 3 teams. The first is: 'Al Karama (White) Team' and consists of Uqeil Jinahi, a Journalist; Firas AlKhatib, International Football Player; Mohammed Abbas, Munshid; Mohammed Al Barak, Quran Reciter; and Siwar Al Thahab, Sports Commentator.

The second team is 'Al Nakhwa (Green) Team': Sheikh Khaled Abu Mooza, a Journalist, Preacher and a Businessman; Yehya Hawa, a Munshid; Ali Al Ghatayen, a Poet; Nasser Al Weiber, a Poet; and Mohammed Sa'don Al Kuwairi, QC's Ambassador and a Journalist.

The third team is 'Al Himma (Blue) Team': Nasser Al Khalifi, a Journalist; Ibrahim Al Naqib, a Munshid; Sabbah Al Kuwairi, a Journalist; Nayef Al Sharhan, a Munshid; and Adel Lami, an International Football Player.

The Earlier Seasons

"One Heart 3" is distinguished with the variety of activities it presents. The 3 teams met with orphans, people with disabilities, widows, elderly and tens of other humanitarian cases. They were interested in educational, health, shelter, economic empowerment, social care and income-generating projects implemented specially for the refugees.

Through the show, invitations will be sent for participation and donations through QC's channels such as its hotline, text messages, websites and QC's bank account which will be later on announced (after receiving the necessary licenses).

The second season of One Heart was filmed in Sudan; while the first was filmed in Socotra the year before that.

Qatar Charity extended its thanks and appreciation to the national institutions and companies that supported the Ramadan campaign 1437 AH "Your Giving Saves Lives." QC pointed out that the campaign supported the needy families, alleviated the population's intense suffering, and helped millions of people inside and outside the country in Ramadan.

"Believing in the importance of partnership and cooperation in realizing the development and humanitarian objectives and giving the opportunity for more charitable work, QC spares no effort to enhance its cooperation with various partners nationally, regionally and globally, as this is aligned to the State of Qatar's vision", said Mr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, the CEO of QC.

Relief and Development

He added that we should be faithful to our partners in Qatar and appreciate their efforts that deeply had a positive impact on the beneficiaries and pleased the displaced, refugees, needy, orphans and patients. He also prayed for Allah to double the reward of the benevolent people.

Al-Kuwari encouraged the benevolent Qataris and residents to continue donation for QC's development and relief projects inside and outside Qatar.

The CEO of QC asserted that Qatar Charity's role is not limited to financing the projects that are being implemented and bringing the charity resources cooperating with the public sector, the private sector and the third sector in the field of social responsibility, but it is extended to education and training.

Government Agencies

The partnerships relating to QC's Ramadan campaign 1437 AH "Your Giving Saves Lives" included the public sector, semi-governmental sector, the private and the non-profit sector. The partnerships' modalities, frameworks and outcomes included providing discounts and direct services to the beneficiaries and supporting the direct social impact projects. They also included giving the opportunity to the cooperating agencies' staff to provide the in-kind donations through the intensive campaigns conducted for the needy, providing halls and providing the infrastructure services from these agencies to QC for free. This would make it easier for these agencies to implement their programs and adopt the local moral, recreational, cultural, social and awareness-raising projects.

Regarding the governmental and semi-governmental sector, QC built partnerships with many agencies to implement charity projects during the holy month of Ramadan and received in-kind, and cash donations. These agencies included:

Campaign Programs

QC has launched its Ramadan campaign for this season under the slogan "Your Giving Saves Lives ". The total cost of the projects implemented during the holy month of Ramadan 1437 AH inside and outside Qatar exceeded QR 32.2 million, with more than 2,131,000 people expected to benefit from the campaign.

The QC campaign aims to reach 180.000 fasting people with the provision of Iftar at 24 collective tables at a total cost of about QR 9 million. The Iftar tables has reached new groups such as factory workers, farms workers, home to home Iftar, mobile Iftar, giving water to worshipers, Ramadan supplies and supporting Iftar tables for communities.

Qatar Charity distributes food

QC has implemented a full-scale Relief Project in Somalia to distribute dry rations, benefiting thousands of drought-affected families in different parts of Somalia.

Food parcels were distributed to 4633 families in a number of areas of Somalia. Each parcel consists of 25 kg of rice, 25 kg of sugar, 25 kg of flour, 6 liters of oil, 2.5 kg of milk powder, and 2 kg of dates.

Timely Assistance

Mr. Faisal Al-Fahida, QC's EDO, said that QC continues to provide assistance to drought-affected areas in Somalia. With the holy month of Ramadan approaching, it has implemented a number of relief projects including the distribution of dry rations to thousands of drought-affected families.

A number of areas of Somalia have severely affected by drought including Mogadishu and such assistance to be both extremely timely and essential given the difficult humanitarian situation they are going through. We hope that such assistance will alleviate the harsh conditions they are experiencing, Al-Fahida added.

The beneficiaries thanked the philanthropists, Qatar State, and QC for their efforts and support.

Atta Alkher

It is noteworthy that “Atta Alkher from Doha Alkher” initiative had provided emergency relief during its last visit to Somaila, included food parcels, drugs, and drinking water.

The initiative had provided food parcels for 10000 Somali families as well as medical assistance including the distribution of medical solutions, administering medical examinations for internal diseases, malnutrition, and Dehydration.

A humanitarian delegation from QC has visited Somalia and studied the various aspects of the humanitarian situation there. It has launched major relief projects, including the distribution of daily meals for 7000 families.

Medical Conveys

As part of Emergency Relief Projects, QC dispatches medical convoys to affected areas of Somalia including Soomaaliland, Puntland, Muqdisho and southwest territories in order to reduce the spread of epidemics.

Approximately 16,200 persons benefited from these medical services especially the regions that lost many persons and millions of livestock due to the lack of food, drugs and drinking water.

Artesian wells will be drilled to provide drinking water for 4000 persons of the cholera and drought-affected areas

QC Ramadan Projects to benefit

Through its Ramadan Campaign “Giving is the Secret to Happiness”, Qatar Charity (QC) is expected to reach out to 630,000 fasting persons in Qatar during the holy month by implementing a number of projects and programmes at a cost of about QR16mn.

During the blessed month of Ramadan, Qatar Charity is implementing various types of projects, which include many Iftar projects for fasting persons, targeting workers and community gatherings in particular, and Iftar meals and Zakat Al Fitr projects for low-income families.

The charily also is organizing a number cultural programs, events and supporting voluntary initiatives, in partnership with others, which include Baraha, Humanitarian Action Event, Youth Initiatives Competition, Al-Siddiqiyoon, You're not alone and Moaayashah (Coexistence).

The most significant Ramadan projects are as follows:

Iftar Tables for Fasting Persons

This year, Qatar Charity is organizing 39 Iftar tables in several areas of the country such as Al Khor, Dhakhira, Simaisma, Kharttiyat, Al Gharafa, Al Rayyan, Al Shahaniya, Al Wakrah, Al Wukair, Muaither South and North, Al Sailiya, Bin Omran, Bin Mahmoud, Umm Salal Mohammed, Al Kabaan, Al Aziziyah,Izghawa, Old Al Ghanim, Al Montazah, Ain Khalid, Al Shamal, Freij Abdul Aziz, Al Hilal, Rawdat Rashid, Al Jamiliya, and Barzan.

During the whole month of Ramadan, these tables will target 225,000 fasting people with the focus on single workers, passers-by and low-income earners and provide them with ready Iftar meals to break their fast.

Iftar Meals for Single Workers

The project focuses on single workers and serves ready Iftar meal to them with the focus on bachelor gatherings. This project is being implemented in Al Ghuwariyah, Simaisma, Al Khor, Al Khuraib, Al Shahaniya, Abū Nakẖlah, and Al Wakrah. Around 18,000 people are expected to benefit from the project.

From Home to Home

As part of this project, Qatari families prepare and serve Iftar meals to low-income families with the aim of meeting some of their needs in Ramadan. As many as 6,000 people are expected to benefit from the project.

Iftar Meals for Industrial Zone workers:

This project distributes Iftar meals to workers through special vehicles at the various locations of the Industrial Area, which are daily changed to cover the largest number of workers during the month. This project will reach out to 12,000 beneficiaries throughout the month of Ramadan.

Ramadan Supply

This project provides parcels containing essential foodstuffs for the month of Ramadan, which are distributed to families with limited incomes via coupons gifted by Qatar Charity at the beginning of the holy month. About 2000 families are expected to be beneficiaries of this project this Ramadan.

Mobile Iftar

This involves the distribution of snacks prepared by Qatari productive families to motorists who were not able to reach their homes for Iftar. This Ramadan, it is expected that 15,000 drivers will benefit from the project.

Providing Water to Congregations

The project is underway in 43 mosques in cooperation with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in order to distribute water bottles to congregations while they are performing Taraweeh and night prayers. As many as 242,000 people are expected to benefit from this water project during this Ramadan.

Ramadan Gift

This is financial aid provided to low-income families registered with Qatar Charity before the beginning of Ramadan to meet the living needs in the holy month. The number of beneficiaries reached as many as 1,000 families this year.

Al-Aqraboon

This is an initiative implemented by Qatar Charity for the third consecutive year with start of Ramadan, in which a number of media figures and social media influencers will participate, with the aim of providing financial aid to the needy families, who may not visit charities for help as well as supporting difficult cases within the country.

Zakat ul Fitr

It is given to low-income families on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. The number of beneficiaries is expected to reach 1,000 families.

Eidi (Gift) for Orphans

It is a gift distributed to the Orphans Sponsored by Qatar Charity, before Eid al-Fitr, to bring pleasure to them. This year, Eidi will be gifted to 324 orphans.

QC launches Ramadan campaign f

Qatar Charity announced the launch of its Ramadan Campaign for the year 1439 AH under the slogan "Giving the Secret to Happiness". The campaign aims at implementing major Ramadan projects in 30 countries including Qatar at a cost of QR37mn to benefit 2 million people.

Giving is the Secret to Happiness" campaign includes three main projects: Iftar for a Fasting Person, which includes “Iftar Tables and Food Baskets”, Eid Clothing, and Zakat al-Fitr in addition to social assistance, media programs, and other projects implemented within Qatar.

Qatar Charity improved the donation service by developing its website and mobile Apps for the holy month of Ramadan and for Zakat calculation and payment. The charity also opened many branches and collection points within the country in order to facilitate an easy access to donors to make their donations

The Pleasure of Giving

QC Ramadan campaign also aims at drawing attention to the fact that giving is a significant key to human happiness, which means that the pleasure of giving is superior to the pleasure of receiving, especially in the holy month of Ramadan, the season of generosity.

Extending a helping hand to support those in need gives the charity makers and good doers a feeling of happiness and fills their hearts with tranquility, comfort, and blessing, especially, when they see the smile on the faces of the beneficiaries and the positive difference in their lives made by the donations of benefactors.

The estimated cost of Ramadan projects outside Qatar is about QR21mn, targeting more than 1.3 million people around the world. The estimated cost of these projects inside Qatar is about QR16mn, aiming to reach out to 630 thousand people.

On the Advent of the blessed month of Ramadan, QC’s CEO Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari extended his heartiest congratulations to the people of Qatar and the Arab and Islamic nations, wishing the holy month to be a season of good deeds, solidarity and compassion.

Campaign’s Projects outside Qatar

Qatar Charity (QC) is implementing its Ramadan projects for this year in 29 countries around the world to benefit 1.3mn people with the focus on crisis and disaster areas, in addition to the poor and the needy. The campaign implements three main projects as follows:

Iftar Project for a Fasting Person

This project is divided into two main categories: Iftar tables for a fasting person and Ramadan baskets, which are implemented at a cost of more than QR15mn to benefit one million people.

Ramadan Tables

This serves Iftar meals to targeted people throughout Ramadan.

Cost and Number of Beneficiaries

The cost of the tables is more than QR10mn, benefiting about 820 thousand fasting persons.

Ramadan Baskets

This provides parcels containing essential foodstuffs for the month of Ramadan, which are distributed to poor families.

Cost and Number of Beneficiaries

The cost of the project is more than QR5mn for the benefit of 156 thousand people.

Zakat al-Fitr

It is given to low-income families on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr to reduce their financial burden.

Cost and Number of Beneficiaries:

The cost of the project is about QR 5.4mn, and it is expected to benefit about 360 thousand people in 24 countries

Eid Clothing

This projects provides clothes and shoes to orphans sponsored by Qatar Charity on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

Cost and Number of Beneficiaries

The cost of the project is more than QR425 thousand, benefiting 4255 orphans in18 countries

Cost: QR 548000– Number of Beneficiaries per month: 18,000 people

3- From Home to Home

As part of this project, Qatari families prepare and serve Iftar meals to low-income families with the aim to meet some of their needs.

Cost: QR 255,000– Number of Beneficiaries: 200 people per day - 6000 people per month.

4- Iftar Meals for Industrial Zone workers:

Cost: QR 265,000 – Number of Beneficiaries: (400 people per day) 12,000 people per month.

5- Ramadan Supply:

This project provides parcels containing essential foodstuffs for the month of Ramadan, which are distributed to families on limited incomes via coupons gifted by Qatar Charity at the beginning of the holy month.

Cost: about QR1.4mn -Total Beneficiaries: 2000 families.

6- Mobile Iftar:

This involves distribution of snacks prepared by Qatari productive families to motorists who were not able to reach their homes for Iftar.

Cost: QR 382,000 - Total beneficiaries: (500 people per day) 15,000 people per month.

7- Providing Water to Congregations:

The project is to be implemented in 43 mosques in cooperation with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in order to distribute water bottles to congregations while they are performing Taraweeh and night prayers

Cost: QR 285,000 - Total beneficiaries: 242,000 people throughout the holy month.

B - Cultural and Public Projects and Initiatives

Baraha

This project supports Iftar tables of many communities residing in Qatar to enhance interaction and cohesion among their members, especially in the month of Ramadan. It includes a number of cultural and recreational programs for the participants and their families.

Youth Initiatives Competition

This encourages youths to compete in establishing initiatives and organizing activities, to serve the community and contribute to support the Ramadan projects. The best initiatives will be selected according to specific criteria, to be honored at the end.

Humanitarian Action Event:

It is a public event involving a group of thinkers, social media stars and some " stand-up comedy" celebrities. On this occasion, the achievements of celebrities in the fields of humanitarian work, will be highlighted as well as entities and personalities, who have participated in and supported the charitable work, in addition to those having voluntary and humanitarian initiatives, will be honored at the event.

Al-Siddiqiyoon

This is an activity aimed at familiarizing members of society with doing a number of voluntary works such as visiting the sick, feeding poor people, following the funeral processions, and fasting.

You're not alone

This is an event, organized by Qatar Charity in cooperation with a number of youth initiatives, to pay visits to patients and elderly people in hospitals and Ehsan during the holy month with the aim of instilling values of volunteerism and compassion.

Moaayashah (Coexistence)

This is an activity aimed at introducing customs and traditions of Qatari society to non-Muslims by holding a special day in Ramadan to engage them in volunteer activities such as Iftar tables.

Ramadan website and App provide all the services needed during the holy month of Ramadan. The user can pay zakat al-Fitr and the atonement of fasting or make the donation to purchase clothes for orphans and implement various Ramadan projects.

Victims of Cyclone Sagar recei

Qatar Charity (QC) distributed Food Baskets to 500 families affected by the Cyclone Sagar, which hit the coasts of northern Somalia. The food aid was provided immediately after the disaster occurred. The charity is also preparing to distribute more food baskets soon.

Director of the QC office in Somalia, Abdel Nour Mirsal said Qatar Charity was the first organization to respond to the relief appeal made by local authorities in Somaliland. Food baskets were distributed in the village of Bakki and surrounding villages in northern Somalia on May 26, 2018, targeting families who lost their homes, livestock and property due to the Cyclone Sagar, Mirsal said in a statement.

He noted that the food baskets included basic food items such as rice, wheat, sugar, dates and dried milk to be used by affected families in the holy month of Ramadan, which coincided with the cyclone.

Mirsal pointed out that Qatar Charity intends to distribute 1,150 additional food baskets to the victims of Cyclone Sagar in the coming week. The basket will be sufficient for a family for a month. Within three months, three artesian wells as well as a number of surface wells will be drilled, Mirsal added.

Mirsal also said the Ramadan Food Aid distributed by QC office during the second half of Ramadan included those previously affected by floods and drought. He noted that the office will distribute 2000 food baskets to 2000 families affected by flood in the Hirshabelle State and to people displaced due to drought in Baidoa in addition to the families of orphans and poor families. A total of 3,650 food basket will be distributed the holy month of Ramadan.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) said 669,000 people had been affected by the cyclone in Somaliland, with numbers likely to rise as information arrives from areas that are now inaccessible. “80 per cent of livestock in affected areas were killed. Reports indicate that some 700 farms have been destroyed in Somaliland,” UNOCHA said.
