Qatar Charity participates in the 30th Doha International Book Fair

Qatar Charity’s (QC) pavilion at the 30th Doha International Book Fair, inaugurated by the Minister of Culture and Sports H E Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali, is witnessing a great turnout of visitors of all ages and different nationalities.

Qatar Charity’s participation in the book fair held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) under the slogan ‘Do You Then Not Ponder’ comes as part of its responsibility towards promoting the culture of volunteering and instilling the values of humanitarian action to contribute to the cultural development of society in accordance with the Qatar National Vision 2030.

Emphasizing the importance of Qatar Charity’s participation in the book fair that encourages society to read, Mr. Jassim Mohammed Al-Emadi, Director of the of Local Development Department said, “Qatar Charity’s pavilion has brought many publications and AR technology that promote the culture of humanitarian action, reading, and local cultural development.”

“Qatar Charity’s takes part in the book fair as part of its strategy to contribute to the local cultural development, and deliver humanitarian message to visitors, exhibiting its publications and using AR technology that shows them humanitarian action on the ground,” said Mr. Ahmed Saleh Al-Ali, Director of Media Department at Qatar Charity.

Children’s Corner

Qatar Charity’s pavilion at the book fair has a section for publications and a children's corner where many activities and competitions are held for children and students visiting the fair. Qatar Charity also intends to organize workshops, symposiums, and book-signing events at the book fair.

The Children's Corner of the pavilion at the book fair is witnessing a wide presence and active participation, as more than 200 children have already participated in various events during the first two days of the fair.

Various Publications

The publications section includes more than 10 publications in both Arabic and English languages for adults and children and adults, most notably "Volunteers at the Heart of the Field", a 40 Hadiths collection on making charity, and a book for zakat calculation. The booth has also many other books for children, stories of “Future’s Writer” program, and the 21th issue of the Ghiras magazine released in conjunction with the book fair, in addition to providing visitors an opportunity to relive the experience of humanitarian action through augmented reality (AR) technology.

Four primary school students, who were declared as winners in the third edition of the “Future’s Writers” program, participated along with HE Mr. Salah bin Ghanem Al-Ali, Minister of Culture and Sports in cutting the tape during the book fair opening. These students also were extremely delighted at seeing their published stories.

Qatar Charity urges people to pay frequent visits to its stand near the gate No. 2 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC) during the period from January 9 to 18, 2020 to learn about its latest publications and engage in its new and different activities designed for children and others. 

Visitors’ Views

Many visitors were delighted at visiting Qatar Charity’s pavilion at the book fair, expressing their view that Qatar Charity has succeeded in delivering its noble humanitarian message to the society by building communication channels and participating in such events

“Qatar Charity has provided us with an opportunity to relive the experience of giving and humanitarian action through the technology of augmented reality," said Walaa Omar, one of the visitors.

“I saw refugees’ homes through this technology that helped me feel the factual suffering of the displaced and needy,” added Omar, noting that now she has a desire to help those in need as much as possible.

For his part, a fifth grader at Al-Nojoum School Mohammed Atif Awadah said, “I played the maze game at Qatar Charity’s pavilion and knew the need of a child feeling very cold for heating, as we are in winter.”

Book-Signing Event

Besides, a book-signing event will be held for the 17 wining stories in the third edition of “Future’s Writers” in addition to launching many other books.
