Qatar Charity implements multiservice project for orphans, the vulnerable in Indonesia

Qatar Charity (QC) has completed a multi-service project in Indonesia to benefit more than 1,100 orphans and students belonging to poor families.

The project, valued at QR2mn, consists of a two-storey Holy Quran Memorization School with 12 classrooms, in addition to health facilities, a dormitory, and a mosque.

The project comes within the educational centers built by Qatar Charity in Indonesia to contribute to providing educational opportunities and achieving one of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The project is aimed at providing various services to students and residents in the region.

The center also aims to contribute to the effective improvement in the education sector by advancing the educational level, enhancing community development, and raising social awareness among students.

Dr. Haji Omar Fawzi, President of At-Taqwa Bekasi that runs the project, commended the role of Qatari philanthropists and donors in supporting charitable work. He also praised the efforts made by Qatar Charity in implementing this project, as well as other important projects in Indonesia, especially in the sector of education.

Iskhein Omran, head of the Construction Department at Qatar Charity’s Indonesia office, said that the center located in Bekasi consists of a 756 square-meter two-storey school and 12 classrooms. Each classroom accommodates nearly 25 students.

He added that Qatar Charity has also constructed a 300 square meter mosque in this school to accommodate approximately 300 students, in addition to a dormitory consisting of five rooms. Each room with six bunk beds can accommodate 12 students. He also pointed out that the center has also health facilities for students and the surrounding areas.

Since 2006, Qatar Charity has built hundreds of schools and multi-service centers in Indonesia. It has implemented 11 large development projects in Indonesia during the years 2017-2019, with a total cost of about 13 million Qatari riyals, in the fields of education, health and social care, benefiting thousands of orphans and low-income families.
