Qatar Charity opens office in

Qatar Charity declared the opening of its office in Sri Lanka in an event held in Colombo, which was attended by several prominent SriLankan figures, Arab diplomats and representatives of national and international organizations.

The inauguration of the office was held within the framework of its policy to directly oversee the implementation of its construction, development and relief projects as well as to intensify its efforts to benefit the people of Asia.

Executive Director of the QC’s Executive Management of Operations, Faisal Rashid Al Fehaida, declared the opening of the QC’s Office in Sri Lanka in the presence Abdu Rishad Bathiudeen, Minister of Industry & Commerce, Rauff Hakeem. Minister of City Planning and Water Supply, Kader Masthan, M.P., Rashid bin Shafi 'Al Marri, Qatari Ambassador to Sri Lanka in addition to Qatari, Palestinian, Iraqi and Omani diplomats, parliamentarians and heads of local and international charities.

The event started with the national anthems of Sri Lanka and Qatar, and then a video clip about Qatar Charity's humanitarian activities in the world and in Sri Lanka since 1993, was played.

Speaking at the event, Faisal Rashid Al Fehaida introduced Qatar Charity and its humanitarian mission, which is supporting the vulnerable communities and empowering them to achieve sustainable development goals throughout the world.

"I am pleased to meet with you today to inaugurate the Qatar Charity office in Sri Lanka," he said, stressing the need to open up to other international organizations and UN agencies working in Sri Lanka and discuss the possibility of entering into qualitative and strategic partnerships with them.

He also pointed out that Qatar Charity's humanitarian intervention in Sri Lanka started in 1993, when it used to work in coordination with local charities, and implemented its projects and programs at a cost of more than QR 14 million.

He also said that Qatar Charity sponsors more than 1,000 persons, most of whom are orphans and a number of different development projects are being implemented in the country at an estimated cost of about QR 13 million, declaring that it has completed the final arrangements for the opening of the five multi-service centers at a cost of more than QR 5 million.

On this occasion, Sajith Premadasa, Minister of Housing and Construction expressed his pleasure and praised the Qatar Charity’s humanitarian interventions around the world, pointing out that it is a global organization well-known for quality planning and implementing Humanitarian and Charitable Projects.

He also that his ministry is ready to cooperate with the Qatar Charity Office in Colombo in planning, marketing and implementing housing and construction projects for the needy and poor people in Sri Lanka. He also announced the establishment of a special division within his ministry to coordinate with Qatar Charity in this regard.

Distribution of Shields and Gifts

At the end of the event, Al Fehaida distributed Qatar Charity Shields to Sajith Premadasa, Minister of Housing and Construction, A.H.M.Fowzie, State Minister of National Integration & Reconciliation and Qatari Ambassador to Sri Lanka Rashid bin Shafi 'Al Marri as well as many gifts were presented to outstanding students sponsored by Qatar Charity.

The delegation of Qatar Charity and guests went to the Office to cut the ribbon, then a meeting was held with guests of honor on ways and means of cooperation in the development and humanitarian, especially in reconstruction and housing fields.

It is worth mentioning that, with the opening of the Qatar Charity Office in Sri Lanka, the number has risen to 28 offices across Europe, Asia and Africa, including 4 regional offices in Turkey, Ghana, Kenya and Kyrgyzstan.

Qatar Charity launches ‘Bring

Qatar Charity (QC) launched its "Bring me Back to School" campaign to support children’s education as one of their basic rights and to prevent the school drop-out phenomenon.

The campaign coincided with the start of the new school year, aiming to meet the school needs and expenses of the children, especially primary school students belonging to poor, needy and low-income families,

The campaign will target 3,000 students. As a first stage, school fees and transportation, bag, stationery and book expenses will be covered for 1,500 students for a whole year.

"Bring me Back to School" campaign, which will continue until the end of the school year, focuses on raising funds to pay the tuition fees of the children belonging to poor and low-income families. The education cost of 1,500 children for a whole academic year is intended as a first stage.

Qatar Charity urged people in Qatar to support this campaign and make donations to pay for children’s educational materials such as student books, uniforms, footwear, school fees and other school supplies.

Donors can contribute to the campaign (Bring me Back to School) by directly making donations at Qatar Charity's headquarters, its 26 branches and 92 collection points located in commercial complexes within the country. Also, people can easily donate to the campaign through QC’s website (https://www.qcharity.org) and App (qch.qa/q/app).

Qatar Charity receives in-kind

Qatar Charity’s (QC) In-Kind Donations Project “Tayf” has received charitable contributions from Qatar District Cooling Company (Qatar Cool), which will be channeled to support charity works benefiting low-income families and workers.

The benefactions were delivered at the Qatar Cool’s building in the presence of Mr. Nahar Al Mutawa, head of the Operations and Maintenance Sector at the company.

Fareed Khaleel Al-Siddieqy, director of Projects and Centers Department at Qatar Charity, expressed his pride in this initiative, which instills the values of love of humanitarian and voluntary work in the company's employees, contributes to serving the local community, and supports the charity's humanitarian projects for the low-income persons and the workers.

Al-Siddieqy underlined the readiness of the charity to cooperate with all, either institutions or individuals, within the country to serve the noble humanitarian goals. He also thanked Qatar Cool and its staff who contributed to this great humanitarian work.

For his part, Nahar Al Mutawah, head of Operations and Maintenance Sector at Qatar Cool, said, "We are keen to participate in activities that benefit the local community”, pointing out that our company organizes many other service activities.

He noted, "We always seek to participate in such initiatives, through which we aim to contribute to community service, proceeding from our responsibility towards the State of Qatar and its people."

"Our contribution came in the form of unused clothes, as we believe that the investment of surplus resources is necessary and positive. Through this contribution, we aim to ease the burdens on low-income families and workers, and encourage other institutions and companies to participate in such charitable and humanitarian campaigns", Mutawah added.

He also applauded QC’s humanitarian efforts to support the low-income people, pointing out that Qatar Cool will participate in such initiatives organized by Qatar Charity in the future.

It is worth mentioning that Qatar Charity receives in-kind donations, including clothes, shoes, children toys, furniture, electrical and electronic appliances … etc. for its ‘Tayf” projects to benefit workers and families with low-income.

Qatar Charity hands over 88 so

Qatar Charity (QC) has handed over 88 social housing units to low-income families in many areas of the Republic of Tunisia, which was implemented with funding from the Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD), with the aim of enabling beneficiaries to live in adequate housing that helps improve their living conditions.

The handover ceremony was attended by several officials of Qatar Charity, directors of regional councils and many guests.

The handover of these housing units come within the framework of a plan that includes the provision of 200 social housing units. Other social housing units will soon be handed over in different governorates of the country.

Also, these social housing units were handed over within the framework of the partnership between the Ministry of Equipment, Housing and Territorial Development, the Regional Council of the Sidi Bouzid Governorate and Qatar Charity.

Some 48 social housing units were distributed to beneficiaries in the Sidi Bouzid Governorate to support the social housing plan in the governorate. The cost of these housing units amounted to QR3mn.

The social housing includes 24 residential units in Sidi Ali Ben Aoun and 24 residential units in Meknassy. These housing units were delivered to beneficiaries in the presence of Anis Daifallah, Governor of Sidi Bouzid, and Faisal Rashid Al Fehaida, assistant to CEO in the Operations and International Cooperation Sector at Qatar Charity.

Some 40 social housing units, which were built by Qatar Charity in the Tunisian city of Kasserine, were handed over to the Ministry of Equipment, Housing and Territorial Development and the Regional Council of the Kasserine Governorate

Each 57-square-meter residential unit consists of a living room, two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom with the outer lobby surrounded by a wall

Faisal Rashid Al Fehaida, assistant to CEO in the Operations and International Cooperation Sector at Qatar Charity, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the concerned Tunisian authorities for the good coordination regarding the implementation of this project and other projects carried out by Qatar Charity in Tunisia. He also pointed out that other social housing units will be delivered in different governments of the Republic of Tunisia.

For his part, Anis Daifallah, governor of Sidi Bouzid, said that this project was the result of cooperation between the Republic of Tunisia and the State of Qatar and came in support of the government's efforts to provide social housing in the region.

He also stressed the determination of the central and local authorities to continue efforts in this regard within the Tunisian government's plan to develop social housing.

The Governor applauded the efforts made by the State of Qatar and Qatar Charity to provide social housing, underlining the Tunisian authorities' keenness to provide all the necessary facilities for the success of this project and other development projects in the Sidi Bouzid Governorate.

Faisal Rashid Al Fehaida, assistant to CEO in the Operations and International Cooperation Sector at Qatar Charity, met with Dr. Nizaruddin Salmi, Minister of Equipment, Housing and Territorial Development, Shazli Boualak, Governor of the Tunis Governorate, and Ahmed Samawi, Governor of the Manouba Governorate.

The minister and governors lauded the efforts of Qatar Charity’s office in Tunisia and reviewed a number of developmental and humanitarian priorities and a range of needs in the area of social housing and housing and social welfare improvement.

They also expressed their appreciation for the qualitative projects implemented by Qatar Charity’s in Tunisia to meet these needs, appreciating the keenness of the office to coordinate continuously with the competent official authorities.

Qatar Charity has recently distributed in-kind assistance to low-income families in many Tunisian governorates at the cost of $300,000, benefiting more than 1870 low-income families and more than 800 students including male and female, to help them survive the cold waves that are hitting many areas of the country. The assistance included a number of winter requirements.

Qatar Charity’s “Restore A Chi

Qatar Charity’s “Restore A Child’s Sight” provides eyeglasses for 1,000 students

Qatar Charity (QC), in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Aster Medical Center, launched the “Restore A Child’s Sight” initiative, as part of its “Charity Starts at Home” campaign to provide eyeglasses to students belong to low-income families in Qatar.

Qatar Charity, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, has distributed 338 coupons to purchase eyeglasses for 68 students at Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Preparatory Independent School for Boys, 23 students at Halima Al Sadia Primary School for Girls, and students of other schools in the country. Some 1,000 students are expected to benefit from this initiative.

The initiative targets school students aged 4-18 years to conduct free medical examinations for them by specialists at Aster Medical Center and distribute coupons to them to purchase eyeglasses according to the need. In its first phase, the initiative covers nine government and private schools.

The project aims to provide the largest possible number of new eyeglasses to children from families with low-income in Qatar and involve the community in supporting them.

It is noteworthy that the schools covered by the initiative in its first phase are Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Preparatory Independent School for Boys, Halima Al Sadia Primary School for Girls, and MES Indian School, in addition to other schools in Doha, Al Khore and Muaither.

Coinciding with the start of the academic year 2018/2019, Qatar Charity launched the “Bring me Back to School” campaign to meet the school needs and expenses of

children, especially primary school students, belonging Low-income Families and support their education, as it is one of their basic rights.

Qatar Charity implements 11 ma

Qatar Charity implements 11 major development projects in Indonesia

Qatar Charity, with the generous support of the people in Qatar, has implemented 11 major development projects in Indonesia during two years, at total cost of more than 13 million Qatari riyals.

The projects, which were implemented in the fields of education, health and social welfare to Support thousands of Orphans and low-income families, will be inaugurated in the near future.

“Qatar Charity exerts its utmost efforts continuously in the field of development and social welfare to protect the most vulnerable and help those most in need,” said Karam Zeinhom Aly, director of Qatar Charity’s office in Indonesia.

He pointed out that the implementation of the projects, which will be opened soon, began in 2017 and ended in 2019, noting that they would contribute significantly to the development of communities and provide the necessary services in the areas of health, education and social welfare.

He added that all these projects have been implemented with the support from the people in Qatar, who always respond to the needs of the Indonesian society, pointing out that many donors direct their donations to social projects.

For his part, Hendra Hadi, project officer at Qatar Charity’s office in Jakarta, said the projects implemented in various Indonesian regions, included centers for the care and rehabilitation of orphans in Banten, 20 social housing units as well as multiple service center in Subang, and a residential complex with 25 houses in East Lombok, in addition to building many hospitals and clinics across the country.

Since its inception in Indonesia in 2006, Qatar Charity has been active in channeling humanitarian assistance to those in need. It has provided urgent relief aid to tsunami victims in 2007, and urgent assistance to those affected by the West Sumatra earthquake in 2009.

Besides, it delivered assistance to Rohingya refugees in 2009 and 2015, and assisted the Garut flood victims in 20016. It has also built 126 housing units including six schools and a mosque. Furthermore, Qatar Charity has provided aid to the victims of the 2018 Lombok earthquake and constructed a social housing for the poor in Aceh.
