Qatar Charity (QC) continues to implement various Ramadan projects under its ‘Ramadan: Leave Your Mark’ campaign. It has begun implementing many projects such as ‘Ramadan Supply’ for the benefit of low-income families, Mobile Iftar for Workers, and Iftar for Expatriates.
The Ramadan projects aim to benefit nearly 900,000 people in Qatar, worth a value of approximately QR 87.5 million. They include seasonal projects for workers, low-income families, orphans, and expatriates, and seek to deliver assistance to those in debt, widows, and those in a humanitarian situation, the sick, and others through the ‘Alaqraboon’ platform.
The QR 2.5 million ‘Ramadan Supply’ project aims to benefit 10,000 low-income families, widows, and expatriate families. It seeks to meet their needs for food supplies before the beginning of the holy month. The number of beneficiaries is expected to increase significantly following the generous donations made to the project.
Coupons have also started to be distributed to low-income families in um al-Zubar, Abu Hamour and al-Shahaniya, to benefit 2,000 families. More coupons are expected to be distributed soon.
The ‘Ramadan gift’ will also be distributed to nearly 900 families. This is financial aid for low-income families registered with Qatar Charity to help them meet their Ramadan needs.
Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Hajri, director of the Programs and Community Development department, said that Qatar Charity has started implementing the ‘Feed the Fasting’ project. He added that the project is covering most areas of the country and includes:
Iftar Tables for the Fasting: Nearly 40 collective Iftar tables are held for workers throughout the month at various locations in Qatar. Iftar meals are provided for the workers, in addition to Ramadan sermons delivered in their languages. The project, worth over QR8mn, will benefit 348,000 people.
Mobile Iftar for Workers: It includes ready-to-eat meals, which are distributed to 108,000 workers at their residences.
Mobile Iftar: It includes Iftar snacks for 60,000 expected beneficiaries, who happen to be at traffic signals and are unable to reach home before the Adhaan (prayer call) of the Maghrib prayer.
Iftar for Expatriates: Iftar tables are organized in cooperation with the expatriate communities to benefit workers and low-income expatriate families. Some 21,000 people are expected to benefit from it.
From-Home-to-Home: Meals prepared by Qatari families are distributed to families with limited income to benefit 6,000 people.
The ‘Charity Kitchen and ‘Soqya’ projects are also implemented during Ramadan in Qatar.
