How applications and social media changed our life?

How life around us has change? How applications and social media has emerged? Answering these two questions were the subject of a workshop titled “The Role of Technology in the Development of Society”, which Qatar Charity have organized in cooperation with Microsoft. About 15 participants from Mesed private school for girls and Grenada private middle school for girls discussed these issues in a 4-day workshop.

Qatar charity aims through organizing such courses to create generations capable to continue the journey of development, and to promote the role of Qatar Charity in local development. In addition, such courses can increase the level of understanding of students in the area of modern technology, define the role of women in the technological development and raise awareness about the importance of this subject as a base for development.

A new generation

Mr. Naser Moghiseeb, the director of programs and centers at the Executive Directory for Local development at Qatar Charity, said: “The implementation of these workshops, which discusses the role of technology in the area of development and social change, is part of Qatar Charity’s efforts in this area. This can be possible through providing opportunities to all groups in the society to participate in the social programs that would meet Qatar National Vision 2030.”

He also added that these workshops are effective in teaching basics of programming by simple methods, and provide participants with skills to use computers according to basic programming concepts. These workshops can create a new generation of female employees who could lead the way effectively and professionally.

Women’s International Day

He ended his remarks with asserting that paying attention to human development, especially improving women’s status, is an essential condition for nations’ revival. Coinciding Women International day, he said that women are half of the society and this workshop came to affirm the importance of ascending Qatari women’s status.

Mrs. Lana Khalaf, the deputy general director of Microsoft, expressed her gratitude to cooperate with Qatar Charity to improve Qatari women’s digital culture and thanked everyone who took part in the success of this workshop. Participants in this workshop also expressed their respect and thanks to Microsoft and Qatar Charity in giving them this opportunity. Especially as this 4-days workshop enabled them to have abundant knowledge through thorough activities and learning technical sciences. 

The students also praised both parties’ efforts in local community development, and affirmed that implementation of this course at the Microsoft office in Education City gave it more credit. This because the city has become a venue for opened minds and for innovative companies so that new generations can adopt knowledge economy, they said.

Future Cooperation

Microsoft representatives have valued the increasing cooperation between them and Qatar Charity for the Development of Society. They also showed willingness to cooperate with Qatar Charity to implement more joint courses and activities in the future.
