Event Supervisor: “The Best of Our Kids” is a social and educational initiative with a spirit of youth, it addresses parents and targets children.
Sponsored by Qatar Charity, the event took place in Aspire Zone park, where the children of Qatar showcased handmade toys to the public for sale. The fundraising event aims at helping the Rohingyan Children in Bangladesh and Myanmar.
Games & Contests:
The event’s schedule included recreational, entertainment, and sport activities, as well as other participations from a number of young journalists, poets, and athletes. Through recreational and creative activities, the event focused on raising awareness amongst children about the harsh conditions which their Rohingyan peers are going through in refugees’ camps. The event promoted the importance of child advocacy and how to support it.
Humanitarian Message:
While delivering a speech, Mr. Farid Khalil Al Saddequi - Projects & Local Centers Director in Qatar Charity- stated that the importance of sponsoring similar events lies in promoting and strengthening the values of benevolence amongst our children through educational and recreational ways. “Hosting similar events enables Qatar Charity to bridge the gap between vulnerable orphans in areas of conflicts and the rest of the world, it will give their cause more exposure” he added.
Mr. Saddiqui also thanked all those who made “The Best of Our Kids” comes to life including Aspire Logistics, sponsors, volunteers, and parents.
Raising awareness:
Ms. Heyam Al Qahtani – Host of “ The Best of Our Kids” said” Through the lenses of youth, this event comes as a social and educational initiative that addresses parents and targets their young kids. Its purpose is to promote the role of donation and the importance of helping those in need, as well as creating a healthy and competitive spirit amongst the children. Ms. Al Qahtani added “ We have targeted the children in Qatar because we believe there is a shortage of similar events that trigger charity subjects in unorthodox and creative ways”
Amongst the attendees was Dr. Abdulrahman Al Harmi, who pointed out that religion plays a pivotal role in educating children to grow selfless and to develop a sense of philanthropy towards those less privileged in life.
Being a member of Qatar Charity’s Relief Campaign in Bangladesh, Captain Souar Al Dahab urged the audience to stand for the persecuted Rohingyan children and help them through these dark times.
Poems:
Poet Hamad Al Baridi delivered a number of “ Nabati” poems about the virtues of charity and benevolence. On the other hand, writer, painter and poet Radi Al Hajri performed a collection of popular poems and others in classical Arabic, one of which was dedicated to the Rohingyan children.
A fundraising was carried out during the time of the event, where many of the children and their parents made donations to help the persecuted children of Rohingya.
