The Zakat year for Zakat on trade starts once the merchandises are purchased, irrespective of the initial capital reaching Nisab or not. If the money or the trading good reaches Nisab after one full lunar year, Zakat shall be due. It is equal to a quarter of one tenth (2.5%).
