Qatar Charity to mark World Youth Skills Day 2021 tomorrow
‘Reimagining Youth Skills Post-Pandemic’ is the theme of World Youth Skills Day 2021, which will be marked tomorrow (July 15).
The celebration of this day will again take place in a challenging context due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The International Labor Organization said that global youth employment fell 8.7% in 2020.
The World Youth Skills Day 2021 will celebrate the resilience and creativity of youth through the crisis. It aims to focus attention on how technical and vocational education and training (TVET) systems have adapted to the pandemic, participate in the recovery, and imagine priorities they should adopt for the post-COVID-19 world.
Qatar Charity launched many flagship programs in and outside the State of Qatar, as it believes in the importance of providing job opportunities and enhancing the skills and capabilities of young people through training in these exceptional circumstances.
Taqat
Qatar Charity is working to provide appropriate job opportunities for youths in several countries of the world. Qatar Charity has managed to train and hire more than 50,000 youths, both male and female, in Palestine, through its ‘Taqat’ initiative, which is one of the world’s unique humanitarian initiatives.
The initiative contributes to reducing the unemployment rate, improving the economic situation of Palestinian families, and strengthening the role of creative youths. This initiative is an opportunity for poverty and unemployment-stricken youths, especially in the problematic economic conditions in Palestinians, particularly in the Gaza Strip.
Tamken
Qatar Charity launched 'Tamken', an integrated training program to enhance the economic, social and psychological skills of individuals, in cooperation with Etlaqq Business Management and Bedaya Centre.
The program targets individuals with ideas and small projects, those in need of training to enter the market, and persons with special needs, in addition to those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and those willing to have a project that ensures a steady source of income for a more stable life.
Income-Generating Projects
Qatar Charity also attaches significant attention to income-generating projects that aim to improve the living conditions of families with low incomes and help them to be self-reliant.
These projects are implemented in the fields of agriculture, animal husbandry, trade, transportation and others.
Qatar Charity has implemented 10,000 economic empowerment projects during 2018-2020, benefiting 55,000 people.
