As part of its social responsibility, Qatar Charity provided wheelchairs to the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 to facilitate the movement of people with special needs and elderly individuals. This initiative aims to ease fans’ access to match venues and stadium seats.
The provision of wheelchairs to the organizing committee is part Qatar Charity’s ongoing support for sports committees and service institutions in the country. This is a contribution towards achieving Qatar National Vision 2030.
Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Hajri, Director of the Local Programs and Community department at Qatar Charity, stated, “This collaboration with the committee combines humanitarian and sports aspects to achieve common goals between both parties,” emphasizing Qatar Charity's continuous commitment to providing outstanding services for all segments of society.
Al-Hajri added that Qatar Charity is keen to ensure the success of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 through the concerted efforts and integration of roles between the service and humanitarian institutions in the country. He also expressed Qatar Charity's readiness to provide further cooperation with the organizing committee as per its request.
Mr. Mohammed Al-Mostafawi Al-Hashimi, Director of Facility Operations at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium in Al-Duhail, stated that Qatar Charity is always at the forefront in providing support that benefits all segments of society. He emphasized the importance of these wheelchairs in facilitating the access of elderly fans, as well as those with disabilities, to the stadiums. He noted that these wheelchairs will be distributed to nine stadiums for the AFC Asian Cup, expressing his hope for continued cooperation between the two parties in the future.
He highlighted the support provided by Qatar Charity in previous tournaments, such as providing volunteers, delivering wheelchairs for individuals with special needs, and providing donation collection boxes. He indicated that Qatar Charity makes prominent efforts in serving all sections of the local community, and that it enjoys a prestigious global reputation due to the implementation of diverse humanitarian and developmental projects on a wide scale in various countries around the world.
