With the support of the Qatari people, Qatar Charity distributed food aid to hundreds of displaced families residing in displacement camps in the Garsabali District of the Banadir region of Somalia.
This humanitarian initiative aims to alleviate the suffering of these families and provide for their basic food needs due to their difficult living conditions. Each family was provided with a food parcel containing sufficient food supplies for a month.
Abdul Fattah Adam Moallem, Director of Qatar Charity's Somalia Office, said that this humanitarian intervention, which benefited 350 families, is part of the ongoing plans implemented by the charity for the displaced. He emphasized that "responding to the needs of the needy is a top priority within Qatar Charity's strategies."
He added, "We appreciate the support of Qatari people and reaffirm our commitment to continuing our work in the field to provide assistance to those most in need, especially in areas suffering from ongoing displacement."
These aids have left a positive impact on the beneficiaries.
Fatima Nour Mohammed Abdul, a mother of seven, said, "I had nothing to give my children that day, but this aid saved us from hunger."
Maryam Yusuf, a sixty-year-old grandmother who cares for ten of her grandchildren, said with emotion, "This food aid is a glimmer of hope for us. I am unable to work, suffer from chronic illnesses, and have no source of income. We thank everyone who has extended a helping hand."
For their part, the Somali authorities concerned praised the aid provided. Mr. Osman Adam Hussein, Relief and Humanitarian Affairs Officer in the Jarsabali District, praised the role played by Qatar Charity, considering this aid timely, especially given the difficult living conditions families in the camps are experiencing. He said, "We are grateful for the support. This distribution has greatly alleviated the suffering of the population, especially in light of the scarcity of resources and the absence of basic services."
