In collaboration with the Qatari Embassy in Damascus, Qatar Charity (QC), with the generous support of its donors, has distributed 500 food packages to displaced families from Syria’s Suwayda governorate currently residing in rural areas of Daraa. This humanitarian intervention is part of the State of Qatar’s continued commitment to alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people and supporting their basic needs during times of crisis.
Each package contains 64 kilograms of essential food items, enough for a family for an entire month. The initiative aims to help meet the basic needs of displaced families, enhance food security, and ease their living burdens.
In a statement, H. E. Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Syrian Arab Republic, affirmed that “this initiative reflects the State of Qatar’s ongoing commitment to standing by the Syrian people and alleviating their humanitarian suffering during these difficult times, in line with its steadfast principles of supporting relief and charitable work.”
This aid is part of Qatar Charity’s continued humanitarian efforts in southern Syria, in collaboration with its partners. Earlier this month, a convoy of emergency humanitarian aid was delivered through the Nasib border crossing between Syria and Jordan. The joint initiative—led by the State of Qatar through the Qatar Fund for Development and Qatar Charity, in cooperation with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan—was coordinated directly with the Syrian government and the Qatari Embassy in Damascus.
The convoy included essential food supplies, flour, and medical materials, aimed at easing the dire humanitarian conditions in affected areas of southern Syria.
