Qatar Charity’s 2025 education projects bring hope to fragile communities worldwide

Qatar Charity (QC), with the generous support of donors in Qatar, has successfully completed or is currently implementing 883 educational projects in underserved regions during the current year (2025). These initiatives are expected to benefit approximately 167,000 individuals. Additionally, around 11,000 people have already benefited from educational interventions carried out in crisis-affected areas. Qatar Charity places education at the heart of its humanitarian and development work, focusing on building and renovating schools and education centers, and providing essential supplies like school furniture, bags, books, and meals to students in need. Qatar Charity launched the “Education 2025” initiative to tackle school dropouts and support quality education for children, aiming to expand projects and provide supplies to students in need with the help of donors. Qatar Charity is building a model primary school in Tunisia on a 1,567 sqm plot, with facilities to serve over 500 students, which will include classrooms, labs, a sports field, health and admin units, and internet-equipped learning spaces. In July, Qatar Charity has laid the foundation stone for a new school building in the Kalutara district of Sri Lanka, aiming to serve approximately 2,000 male and female students at Muslim Central College in the district. The project includes the construction of a three-story building over an area of 9,000 square feet. It will be equipped and furnished with four modern science laboratories, four classrooms, and administrative and service facilities. In Gaza, Qatar Charity launched a project to support children affected by conflict. It set up temporary classrooms in shelters, distributed 4,500 school bags along with supplies, 60 whiteboards, and supported 60 volunteer teachers, in addition to providing educational materials and games. In Syria, Qatar Charity supported a school in rural Idlib—damaged by the Türkiye-Syria earthquake—by providing school supplies for 1,074 students and covering salaries for 54 staff members for a full academic year. Qatar Charity urges continued support for its “Education 2025” initiative to help transform education for vulnerable communities worldwide. Qatar Charity’s representative in Afghanistan assesses earthquake devastation in Kuner Province
The representative of Qatar Charity (QC) in Afghanistan carried out a field visit to Kuner Province, in coordination with a rescue team from Qatar, to assess the humanitarian impact caused by the ongoing landslides and aftershocks following the powerful earthquake that struck southeastern Afghanistan. The disaster has resulted in thousands of deaths and injuries and has left hundreds of thousands displaced. This field mission comes as part of Qatar Charity’s preparations to implement its emergency relief interventions, in response to the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the affected areas, particularly in Kuner and surrounding provinces. Following his participation in the field visit to the earthquake-affected Kuner Province, Mr. Mumin Shah, Qatar Charity’s representative in Afghanistan, stated: “We witnessed overwhelming destruction and immense human suffering. Entire villages were cut off due to landslides and aftershocks, with significant casualties. We observed continuous tremors and landslides during our visits.” He added: “From both air and ground, we saw widespread devastation, collapsed homes, and displaced communities. Families sat beside the rubble of their homes in mourning, while survivors struggled to cope with severe shortages of food, water, and medical care. We observed families taking their children in hands towards the settled area for seeking shelter and protection.” In light of the scale of the crisis, Qatar Charity is currently preparing to launch emergency relief efforts expected to include emergency medical care, safe drinking water, temporary shelters, and food baskets, along with sanitation facilities in declared camps. According to the latest official reports, the death toll has risen to 2,205, while the number of injured has exceeded 3,700, following the 6.0-magnitude earthquake that struck southeastern Afghanistan. The disaster has caused extensive damage to thousands of homes, particularly in Kuner Province and surrounding areas, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in what is considered one of the most devastating natural disasters the country has witnessed in recent years.
