Qatar Charity Launches the Third Round of "Competitors" Program

Qatar Charity has launched the third round of "Competitors" weekly radio program, which is produced in partnership with Qatar Holy Quran Radio and the participation of universities, colleges and academies students in Qatar. Aljazeera Café in the Cultural District “Katara” hosted the celebration to announce the beginning of the third round of the competition between Aspire Academy Team and the Leaders Academy Team. Moreover, both the Community College Team and the College of the North Atlantic Team, who competed in the second round, and succeeded in building three schools for Syrian refugees in Lebanon, and 9 hospitals and health facilities in Kyrgyzstan, were also honored during the ceremony.

Mr. Nayef Al-Shammari, Head of Leaders Academy Team, said that they decided to participate in the third round of Competitors Program sponsored by Qatar Charity (International Charity Organization) after making sure of the nobility of the competition’s goal, noting that the Leaders Academy Team came to compete in the competition relying on the confidence of participating students.

Excellent experience and skill

Dr. Ali Ayoub, Head of Aspire Academy Team, said that Aspire Academy students are pioneers in leadership field as they learnt a lot from the true Islamic values and the Aspire Academy values which are based on respect and responsibility. Competitors Program will constitute an incentive to our students whom we expect to win in the competition due to their excellent experience and skill.

Enriching experience

On the occasion of winning the first place, Mr. Munadi Alka’bi, Head of Community College Team, said that the most important thing achieved by the team is participating in the charity work field. Alka’bi pointed out that winning the first place is not as important as providing education to 1500 students of our Syrian brothers through building three schools in Lebanon. That is the true winning!

Alka’bi added that participation in this competition had a good impact on the team and added a lot to their knowledge.

Distinguishing mark

Mr. Abdul Rahman Saleh Alashqar, Head of the College team of the North Atlantic, congratulated the winning team, pointing out that the College team of the North Atlantic fought in a fair competition with a noble goal. Although it came in the second place but still achieved the desired goal including marketing for building seven hospitals in Kyrgyzstan, which became nine hospitals later, thanks to the great efforts of the team. We left a distinguished mark, which could be seen through the broad smiles on the children’s and adults’ faces.

QC Prepares for the Launch of

QC finished filming the third edition of its reality TV show 'One Heart' near the Turkey-Syria borders. Several famous people were in the show such as Dr. Salman Al Ouda and a group of media, dawa and sports stars from Qatar, the Gulf and the Arab World. The show will be displayed during the coming Ramadan 1437 AH.

"One Heart" TV show aims at introducing the humanitarian issues to the public, and attracting support in a spiritual and exciting manner. It will include lots of adventures and surprises. It also presents solutions in a creative way.

 

Awen Initiative

This year, the program focused on the sufferings of the Syrian refugees, considering their issue the greatest of all disasters around the world. The members visited the refugees' camps near the Turkey-Syria borders in multiple areas of Ghazi, Gaziantep, Antakya, Kilis and others. In cooperation and coordination with the regional partners of QC there, the teams paid multiple visits to QC's projects in Turkey which target this group of people.

The program also sought to show Turkey's huge role, as a country and people, in taking care of and sheltering the Syrian refugees. Turkey offered them relief aids, medications and free education. It also established camps for them. Turkey is considered the country with the biggest number of Syrian refugees; i.e. an average of more than 3,000,000 refugees found across the different Turkish cities and territories.

During the show, Dr. Al Ouda and the participants spoke about Awen Initiative for the Empowerment and Development of Syrian Refugees which was recently released by QC. They clarified the different aspects of this initiative; especially relating to improving charity work and moving it from relief aids stage to become sustainable development. It aims at improving the Syrians' capabilities and training them so as to work and become financially independent. This way, a healthy society would be built, clear of any social diseases which had broken many societies apart.

The activities which showed the great efforts of the participating teams were related to displaying the success stories of the Syrian refugees in Turkey. Some of them became merchants, others became employees; some others worked in agriculture, raising cattle and other arts and crafts.

 

The Three Teams

In addition to Sheikh Salman Ouda, the number of participants reached around 15 figures divided into 3 teams. The first is: 'Al Karama (White) Team' and consists of Uqeil Jinahi, a Journalist; Firas AlKhatib, International Football Player; Mohammed Abbas, Munshid; Mohammed Al Barak, Quran Reciter; and Siwar Al Thahab, Sports Commentator.

The second team is 'Al Nakhwa (Green) Team': Sheikh Khaled Abu Mooza, a Journalist, Preacher and a Businessman; Yehya Hawa, a Munshid; Ali Al Ghatayen, a Poet; Nasser Al Weiber, a Poet; and Mohammed Sa'don Al Kuwairi, QC's Ambassador and a Journalist.

The third team is 'Al Himma (Blue) Team': Nasser Al Khalifi, a Journalist; Ibrahim Al Naqib, a Munshid; Sabbah Al Kuwairi, a Journalist; Nayef Al Sharhan, a Munshid; and Adel Lami, an International Football Player.

 

The Earlier Seasons

"One Heart 3" is distinguished with the variety of activities it presents. The 3 teams met with orphans, people with disabilities, widows, elderly and tens of other humanitarian cases. They were interested in educational, health, shelter, economic empowerment, social care and income-generating projects implemented specially for the refugees. 

Through the show, invitations will be sent for participation and donations through QC's channels such as its hotline, text messages, websites and QC's bank account which will be later on announced (after receiving the necessary licenses).

The second season of One Heart was filmed in Sudan; while the first was filmed in Socotra the year before that. 

Qatar University Team Visits M

 

Qatar University team and QC delegation of volunteers visited Mauritania as part of the "Competitors" Radio Program in order to assess the field needs and get acquinted with the location of the development project. This visit is as part of the competition held with the Education City Team based on the humanitarian work innovation standards.

Based on the Mauritania’s development needs and after deliberations with QC office in Nouakchott  relevant to its intervention priorities and plans implemented in Mauritania, a multi-service center shall be established in Janaba, Brakna region. This area is classified as one of the poorest areas and is known as the "triangle of poverty". The project's total value is QR 1,100,000 and it includes a school, a clinic and an artesian well for the benefit of 25,000 people. The Director of the Information Department, Mr. Ahmed Saleh Al Ali, headed the delegation of Qatar Charity. This delegation included Qatar University team and social media activists.

The Qatari Embassy

The delegation visited the Qatari embassy in Nouakchott and met with the ambassador of the State of Qatar in Nouakchott, Mr. Abdulrahman Bin Ali Al Ajaj Al Kubaisi, who highlighted the huge development projects implemented by the State of Qatar, the Qatari organizations and the Qatari key figures in Mauritania. These projects are implemented in various fields including water, social housing, the health sector, education and social assistance provided to vulnerable groups. At the end of the meeting, QC delegation provided a souvenir to His Excellency the Qatari Ambassador for his great efforts related to supporting Qatar Charity and the Qatari organizations operating in Mauritania.

Visiting the Residents of Janaba

The team land travelled from Nouakchott to the targeted area, Janaba that is about 500 km away, 50 km of which are not paved, where they met the beneficiaries and witnessed the deterioration of health services and the village's need for water and infrastructure for education and others.

The center will add value to the region's residents as it will include a new school and hospital instead of the old narrow and dilapidated buildings that were not well-equipped. Pregnant women living in that area may need to travel about 90 kilometers by car to get to the nearest hospital, which threatens their lives and their babies’ lives.  The artesian well shall be equipped with a water tank and solar-powered pump, and will provide a drinking water to thousands of thirsty people during summer.

The Janaba residents hold a reception ceremony for Qatar Charity and the Qatari volunteers involved in Competitors Program. This ceremony was attended by Mr. Mohammed AL Mustafa Wald Mohammed Qazi, the municipality mayor, who welcomed the guests in his opening speech, asserting the residents' urgent need for support as they are suffering bad health and educational circumstances. Qazi extended his sincere thanks to the people of Qatar for supporting their brothers in Mauritania and other Arab and Islamic countries.

In a speech on behalf of the delegation, Mr. Abdullah Nasser Abdullah Al-Tamimi said that the Qatari people, philanthropists, donors and Qatar Charity hope all the best for the Mauritanian people, and thank their warm reception.

The Next Visit

Mr. Ahmed Saleh Al Ali, the Director of QC Information Department assured that the visit realized its objectives and left a good impression on the members of Qatar University delegation that made an impressive field visits. The delegation will talk about these experiences in the "competitors" weekly live radio program that starts at eight o'clock on Tuesday evening. The program is transmitted over Al Quran Al Kareem Show. Al Ali pointed out that the rival Education City Team will visit Sri Lanka at the end of this month to get to know the place of its development project and will identify the beneficiaries' needs hoping that the listeners of Al Quran Al Kareem Radio would cooperate with the rival teams to support the charity work.

Adding Value

The Director of QC office in Mauritania, Mr. Idriss Al-Sahel received the delegation at QC office in Nouakchott and made a presentation about QC's accomplishments in Mauritania. He added that the Qatari philanthropists spent more than QR 25 million during the last year contributing to the water, health, education and social affairs projects. He mentioned that the number of sponsored people was doubled during the last two years to reach 3,000 sponsored individuals.

The delegation paid a visit to a number of QC's projects including the Deaf Rehabilitation and Education Center in Nouakchott, where 500 deaf people will benefit from the project. The delegation also visited a sewing center, which is sponsored by QC and supervised by its partner, the "Philanthropists without Borders" Association. This center provides job opportunities for poor widows and divorcees.

 

The "Competitors" Team Visits

As part of “Competitors" Programme efforts sponsored by Qatar Charity in collaboration with Al Quran Al Kareem Radio, Collage of the North Atlantic- Qatar (CAN) team paid a field visit to Kyrgyzstan, to conduct a field study of the humanitarian situation there, to determine Humanitarian Projects that will meet the needs of Kyrgyz people to be implemented and widely promoted.   

The competing team chose to project of building a three-floor health center that is furnished and well-equipped. The health center was designed to provide medical consultations and services in dentistry, gynecology and obstetrics, internal medicine, the kidneys and urinary tract, otorhinolaryngology(ENT), Pediatrics, ophthalmology, cardiology, chest diseases, dermatologists, venereal diseases and orthopedics.

End of Suffering

The center will provide medical services to more than 5,000 patients annually, in Bishkek city whose inhabitants are suffering from a severe shortage in health services, causing the high mortality rate among the most vulnerable groups including children, pregnant women, and the elderly people who daily walk long distances to reach health centers.

The "competitors" team will talk in details about their visit to Kyrgyzstan, the humanitarian project that would be implemented, through the episode that will be broadcasted on Al Quran Al kareem radio at 8:00 pm on Tuesday.  In this regard, QC asks the Qatari philanthropists to listen to this episode to get acquainted with the humanitarian situation in Kyrgyzstan, and to contribute to building the integrated health center.

The participating team includes Abdullah Al Hammadi, Hassan Mohammed Hassan, Abdulaziz Riachy, Abdul Rahman al-Ashqar, QC's director of Information Department" Mr. Ahmed Al Ali", the two media personalities "Ahmed Aboulenein, Aqeel Al janahi", members of Al Quran Al Kareem Radio "Mr. Abdul Rahman Izzat , Tawfiq Osama, Nasser Atta", as well as Ahmed Salim, Social Media Officer at the Information Department and Ibrahim Al Ftian,  Coordination and Follow-up Officer at the Information Department.

Upon arrival to the capital of Kyrgyzstan, the delegation visited the Embassy of the State of Qatar, where His Excellency Ambassador Mohammed Arar Al Nuaimi received and welcomed the delegation assuring the importance of humanitarian work in addition to mutual cooperation to facilitate the task of the delegation.

Visits and Meetings

The delegation met the Minister of Health in Kyrgyzstan, to know the health and humanitarian services, and the possibilities of helping the Kyrgyz people, through establishing health centers that meets their medical care needs.

The delegation also met the Republic's General Mufti, the president of religious affairs and his deputy to discuss the conditions of Muslims in Kyrgyzstan.

Furthermore, the delegation inspected a number of Qatari projects that were implemented by Qatar Charity through a generous donation of philanthropists in Qatar who left a clear mark on charitable and humanitarian work in this republic

Al Ali thanked Al Quran Al kareem Radio, the team of College of the North Atlantic, and media personalities and appreciated the role played by the official authorities of Kyrgyzstan for the facilities provided during the delegation's visit. He also praised the role of the Qatari Embassy in Kyrgyzstan represented by Ambassador Mohamed Arar Al Nuaimi who make the delegation familiar with the state

QC Launches the Second Round o

Qatar Charity launched the second edition of the ‘Competitors’ program’s second season, which is produced in collaboration with Al Quran Al Kareem Radio, and offers the opportunities to the various community institutions to take part in the competition of doing charitable, humanitarian, developmental and creative works as well as community marketing with new and innovative ways.

Qatar Charity launched the second edition of the radio ‘Competitors’ program’s second season at the end of 2017. In the first edition, the competition was held between the hero players of the Golden Generation who represented of Al-Sadd Sports Club and Al-Arabi Sports Club, as they enriched the country’s sports.

Drawing a Smile

In the first edition, with the generous support from both; male and female philanthropists of Qatar, the two competing teams managed to implement Humanitarian Projects and drew a smile on the faces of thousands of beneficiaries in Albania and Kyrgyzstan.

Honoring the Contending Teams

In the honorary ceremony held at Sapphire Plaza Hotel, the Winer Shield of the First Edition was awarded to the team of Al-Arabi Sports Club, who beat the team of Al-Sadd Sports Club according to criteria relating to the excellence of the creative idea, the strength of the teamwork spirit and the social media engagement. The team financed the project of “Al-Arabi Sports Club Heath Centre” in Albania, which costs about one and a half million Qatari riyals. The health centre will offer medical service to more than 60 patients daily. 

Certificates of Appreciation have been presented to the competing team of Al-Sadd Sports Club, which has successfully become able to fund a multi-service project, that involves construction of fully furnished building with facilities in Kyrgyzstan at a cost of one and a half million Qatari riyals.

The Qatar Charity honored Al Quran Al Kareem Radio and Sapphire Plaza Hotel, as it acknowledges the roles of its partners, who have made significant efforts in the success of the first edition of the ‘Competitors’ program’s second season.

The Second Round Teams

Qatar Charity launched, during the ceremony, the second edition of the "Competitors" program’s the second season, which marked the beginning of the competition between the teams of Al-Wakrah Sports Club and Al Ahli Sports Club. Sheikh Ahmed Al Buainain, Mohsen Jasim, Yousif Ahmed, Jassim Al Tamimi form the team of Al-Wakrah Sports Club, however, the team of Al Ahli Sports Club consists of: Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sada, Fahd Bouzouir, Abdullah Jasim and Abdullah Saad.

Speaking on the behalf of Qatar Charity during the honorary ceremony, Ahmed Al Ali, Assistant Executive Director of the Executive Management of Media and Communication, said: the "Competitors" program produced by Qatar Charity, achieved tangible success through the investment of the initiative sprit in all the various segments of community, utilizing their skills and abilities to compete in the support of humanitarian works and volunteering activities. He pointed out that the program, in its first season, contributed to promoting various humanitarian projects that benefited millions of needy people worldwide, because of the generous support philanthropist persons of Qatar.

Thanks and Gratitude

Al-Ali thanked all those who contributed to the success of the distinguished "Competitors" program, including scholars, partners, opinion leaders, social media influencers, media professionals, sportspersons and Sapphire Plaza Hotel.

He also praised the roles played by the veteran stars of Al-Sadd Sports Club and Al-Arabi Sports Club, who made their great efforts in the success of the previous edition of the competitors' program. He mentioned that this honor does not equate to the great efforts made by those honored at the ceremony.

He expressed his gratitude to Al Quran Al Kareem Radio, the most prominent strategic partner of Qatar Charity and thanked the generous donors and philanthropists for their giving, which brings hope back to those who lost it.

QC Prepares to Launch Second E

Qatar Charity(International Humanitarian Organization) has completed its preparations to launch the second edition of the “Future’s Writers” Program following the success of its first edition in the last academic year.

The second edition will allow larger segments of society, including male and female youth, to participate in the program, opening up to a broader spectrum of governmental and non-governmental bodies for coordination and partnership.

Partners

Mr. Ali Ibrahim Al Ghareeb, Executive Director of Local Operations Department at Qatar Charity said that Qatar Charity has completed its preparations to launch the second edition of the program, which will be characterized by greater openness to the different segments of society, including male and female.

Al Ghareeb added that the program will consist of two main categories: adolescents (12-16 years) and youth (17-20 years), pointing out that the competition will be held between March and mid-May of this year and the same conditions and stages applied on the first edition, will be applicable to the second one too.

He also said that the second edition will be launched under the generous patronage of Barwa Bank, noting that Qatar Charity sought coordination and partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Qatar University, Qatari Forum For Authors, Dar Roza and the Khair Jalees Book Club to implement the program, in a way that ensures its success.

He explained that Qatar Charity aims, through this program’ to contribute to enriching the cultural scene, developing and advancing the Qatari society, spreading the culture of reading and improving writing and authoring skills, especially among children and youth.

Attention of the Ministry of Culture

Earlier this month, Dar Al-Kutub Al-Qatariyah hosted a discussion session, organized by the Qatari Forum For Authors, on the first edition of the “Future’s Writers” Program, in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Salah Bin Ghanim Al Ali, Minister of Culture and Sports, representatives of the participating bodies, and a large number of creative writers in addition to Saleh Ghareeb.

The Minister of Culture and Sports stressed during the session that writers and authors should be responsible for making a positive change in society through the production of knowledge, so that Qatar will remain as an example of the moral excellence, hoping that the next generation will be the best to serve the country at the cultural and intellectual level.

First Edition of the Program

The first edition of the “Future’s Writers” Program has achieved many of its objectives and was also praised and promoted by a number of well-known bodies and personalities including the Minister of Culture and Sports, Mr. Salah Bin Ghanim Al Ali.

It is worth noting that six stories have been announced as winners in the first edition of the "Future’s Writers" Program for the academic year 2016-2017, which was implemented at the level of schools in Qatar in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Qatar University and Khair Jalees Book Club.
