Qatar Charity (QC) continues its humanitarian mission in Somalia, thanks to the generous support of benefactors in Qatar. Recently, the organization implemented a project to distribute essential food supplies to displaced families in the model village of Barwaqo, located in Baidoa, southwestern Somalia. More than 70 families received food packages, each sufficient to meet their needs for four months.
This initiative aligns with the ongoing “Feeding is Life” campaign, which aims to combat hunger threatening millions worldwide—especially amid crises and natural disasters. The campaign aims to secure food for vulnerable populations in eight countries: Yemen, Somalia, Sudan, Pakistan, Kenya, Chad, Myanmar, and Côte d’Ivoire.
Tangible Impact
The aid is designed to alleviate the suffering of families uprooted by harsh conditions and help them regain stability. It is part of Qatar Charity’s broader strategy to enhance food security and provide both material and moral support to struggling families, fostering stability in a village that serves as an integrated model for housing and services. This support brings hope and restores smile to faces worn by displacement.
Beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude for this humanitarian gesture. Mohamed Hassan Hajar, a father of 12, said: “We thank the generous donors for this kind assistance, which has eased much of our daily hardship and given us a sense of security.” Similarly, Norto Mohamed Nour Taher, a mother of nine, shared: “The aid has provided food for my family and renewed our hope for a more stable life after years of displacement.”
Comprehensive Stability
Mr. Abdulfatah Adam, Country Director of Qatar Charity’s Somalia Branch, emphasized that this initiative is part of the organization’s vision to ensure a dignified life for displaced people and strengthen the stability of local communities.
Barwaqo Model Village comprises 67 housing units, a secondary school, a health center, a mosque, and vocational training centers—making it a comprehensive model for rebuilding the lives of displaced families with dignity.
Qatar Charity urges the generous people of Qatar to continue supporting the “Feeding is Life” campaign to deliver food aid to as many affected individuals as possible in the target countries.
