Qatar Charity Builds New Mosques Across Several Provinces in Pakistan

6/30/2026

As part of its ongoing efforts to support vulnerable communities and enhance religious and social life, Qatar Charity has constructed 11 new mosques across the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh in Pakistan, benefiting more than 8,150 worshippers, including flood-affected people.

The project addresses the needs of underserved communities that previously lacked access to adequate places of worship, limiting their ability to perform daily prayers and restricting children’s opportunities to receive proper Islamic education.

Project Details

The initiative included the construction of six mosques, each covering an area of 180 square meters and accommodating up to 1,145 worshippers at a time. These were constructed across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (two mosques), Punjab (three mosques), and Sindh (one mosque).

In addition, five smaller mosques were built, each measuring 80 square meters and accommodating approximately 256 worshippers. These were built across the three provinces, with two mosques each in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, and one in Sindh.

Beyond serving as places of worship, the mosques function as community centers, providing Quran learning sessions for around 50 children per mosque, particularly after school hours. This contributes to strengthening Islamic values and promoting awareness among younger generations.

Fully Equipped Facilities

All mosques have been fully equipped with essential facilities, including prayer mats, Quran shelves, ablution areas, washrooms, carpets, sound systems, ceiling and wall-mounted fans, digital wall clocks, electric water coolers, and 5kW solar power systems to ensure reliable and sustainable services.

Positive Community Impact

The project has been warmly welcomed by local communities, with residents expressing deep appreciation for the initiative. For many villagers, having a mosque nearby represents not only convenience but also a profound spiritual and social asset.

Mr. Muhammad Sharif, Imam of Khairpur Mosque, said:

“Our mosque was partially damaged due to heavy rains last year, and we lacked sufficient copies of the Holy Quran as well as proper ablution facilities. We are grateful to Qatar Charity and the generous donors of Qatar for constructing a fully equipped mosque. We now also have proper WASH facilities.”

Community activist Hafiz Ghulam Fareed added:

“Previously, we had to travel long distances to offer our prayers. Today, we have a mosque in our village, which has brought us closer as a community and strengthened our faith. I can now bring my children for Quran classes, where they are learning more about Islam and  our culture. This mosque has made a real difference in our lives.”

Mureed Hussain noted:

“The mosque has become more than a place of worship; it is now a hub for social activities and a symbol of unity and progress in our village.”

Sustained Commitment

This initiative reflects Qatar Charity’s continued commitment to improving the living conditions of underprivileged communities by strengthening both religious and social infrastructure. Through such projects, Qatar Charity helps foster community cohesion, preserve cultural identity, and promote values of solidarity and compassion.

It is worth mentioning that Qatar Charity constructed 45 mosques in 2025 across Pakistan to benefit more than 16000 people.
