Qatar Charity (QC) continued implementing its development and humanitarian projects across the United Republic of Tanzania during the period from January to June 2026. The projects covered a wide range of sectors, including water, mosque construction, social welfare, healthcare, economic empowerment, relief assistance, and food security, aiming to improve living conditions and promote sustainable development for vulnerable communities.
Clean Water
In response to climate-related challenges and recurrent droughts affecting water availability, Qatar Charity implemented 431 water wells of varying depths across Tanzania. These included 347 wells at a depth of 20 meters, 48 wells at 30 meters, 4 wells at 60 meters, 24 wells at 80 meters, 6 wells at 90 meters, and 2 wells at 100 meters.
To enhance sustainability, 30 wells were equipped with solar-powered systems, particularly in rural areas with limited access to electricity. In addition, 7 reverse osmosis units were installed to improve water quality and provide safe drinking water in areas facing water contamination challenges.
Mosque Construction
As part of its efforts to support infrastructure and strengthen social cohesion, Qatar Charity constructed 69 mosques across Tanzania, including 56 mosques measuring 70 square meters, 12 mosques measuring 80 square meters, and one large mosque measuring 120 square meters.
These mosques provide appropriate spaces for worship, Islamic education, and the promotion of positive social and moral values within local communities.
Social Welfare
In the field of social welfare, Qatar Charity implemented 52 projects targeting persons with disabilities and vulnerable groups. The interventions included the provision of wheelchairs, medical eyeglasses, and household items, helping improve beneficiaries’ living conditions and meet their daily needs.
Healthcare Services
Qatar Charity also implemented 9 healthcare projects aimed at expanding access to essential medical services. These included 6 projects addressing non-communicable diseases, benefiting approximately 2,400 people through diagnostic and treatment services.
In addition, blindness prevention initiatives included 400 glaucoma surgeries and the provision of eye care services, medicines, and eyeglasses to more than 2,000 beneficiaries. A cleft lip surgery project was also carried out, enabling 132 children to receive life-changing corrective procedures.
Economic Empowerment
As part of its livelihood support programs, Qatar Charity implemented 3 income-generating projects, including one fishing boat project and two tuk-tuk transportation projects, creating employment opportunities and helping beneficiaries improve their household income.
Relief Response
Qatar Charity also implemented a relief program on Mafia Island, benefiting 125 individuals from vulnerable families through the distribution of food supplies and essential relief items, helping alleviate the impact of difficult economic conditions.
Food Security
In the area of food security, Qatar Charity launched 6 projects, including 4 cattle farming projects aimed at improving nutrition and creating sustainable sources of income, as well as 2 vegetable gardening projects designed to strengthen self-reliance and enhance household food security.
These projects reflect Qatar Charity’s continued commitment to supporting humanitarian and development efforts in Tanzania and contributing to the improvement of local communities’ lives through sustainable interventions that address their most pressing needs.
