10/6/2026

The General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has honored Qatar Charity (QC) in the non-profit institutions category in recognition of the housing initiatives delivered by its Alaqraboon Center for families in Qatar.

The recognition was presented during the fourth Gulf Housing Week, held in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The honor recognizes Alaqraboon Center’s efforts to develop practical housing solutions and implement initiatives that address social needs, strengthen family stability and improve quality of life.

The honoring took place during the ceremony announcing the results of the seventh GCC Housing Award, 2026, held under the theme “Integrated Services Housing Project Enhancing Quality of Life.”

Recognition Ceremony

Mr. Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), presented the commemorative shield and certificate to Mr. Faisal Rashid Al-Fehaida, Executive Director of Alaqraboon Center, in the presence of Her Excellency Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Qatar’s Minister of Social Development and Family.

Supporting Families and Communities

The recognition highlights Alaqraboon Center’s contribution of more than QAR 11 million towards housing support for low-income families in Qatar. It also underscores the importance of cooperation between government bodies, civil society institutions and non-profit organizations in promoting family and social stability and advancing sustainable development.

Commenting on the recognition, Mr. Faisal Rashid Al-Fehaida said: “This honor reflects the humanitarian and social role of Qatar Charity’s Alaqraboon Center. Through targeted initiatives and sustainable solutions, the Center helps meet the housing needs of low-income families in Qatar, strengthen their stability and improve their quality of life.”

“It also underscores the importance of further strengthening cooperation and partnerships across sectors and developing sustainable community-based housing initiatives. These efforts can create a lasting positive impact on families and communities while advancing housing solutions that meet the needs of families facing financial hardship.”
