Over the past year, Qatar Charity continued its vital humanitarian and developmental role in supporting the most vulnerable populations in Turkey and northwest Syria. Through its field office, the organization implemented impactful projects across key sectors, including health, education, food security, and social care, reaching over one million beneficiaries.

Health Sector: Comprehensive and Sustainable Response

Qatar Charity allocated more than $7 million to healthcare initiatives in Turkey and Syria, benefiting over 569,000 people. Among the standout projects was the enhancement of the primary healthcare and referral system in northwest Syria. The initiative supported 12 health centers in Idlib, rural Aleppo, and the Peace Spring area, offering emergency services, pediatric care, and health education to over 524,000 individuals at a cost exceeding $5 million.

In addition to operating 18 ambulances across several provinces, Qatar Charity supplied essential pharmaceuticals to health centers, strengthening the continuity and accessibility of both primary and specialized medical services.

In northern Aleppo, pediatric health services were significantly bolstered with support for the children’s department at Al-Ra’i Hospital. The facility now offers specialized child healthcare through outpatient clinics, an intensive care unit for children, neonatal care adhering to standards, and a newborn intensive care unit. The hospital also features emergency protocols, laboratories, radiology equipment, and medical supplies.

As part of its health programs, the charity also facilitated brain tumor removal surgery, distributed 43 hearing aids, and provided six wheelchairs, assisting 50 individuals in total.

Education: Protecting Every Child’s Right to Learn

In the education sector, Qatar Charity targeted out-of-school and affected children in northwest Syria by distributing 3,644 school bags and stationery kits valued at around $82,000. The organization also launched an initiative to reintegrate child laborers in Tarhin Camp, near Al-Bab, back into the classroom, supporting the Omran Education Center in the process.

Food Security: From Emergency Relief to Agricultural Support

Nearly $2 million was dedicated to food security projects, benefiting 156,477 individuals. These efforts included the distribution of 6,145 food baskets in northern Syria and rural Idlib. Moreover, Qatar Charity launched a wheat value chain support project, aiding 120 farmers with agricultural inputs, technical guidance, and infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing bread production.

Shelter: Decent Housing with Integrated Services

A milestone achievement was the inauguration of “City of Alamal,” a residential complex comprising 1,400 housing units for displaced Syrian families. The homes are designed to accommodate over 8,800 people and are supported by essential facilities such as schools, a health center, a mosque, and marketplaces—marking a transformative shift from refugee tents to safe, dignified living spaces.

Water and Sanitation: Essential Services for Life

Water and sanitation projects totaled more than $285,000 and benefited over 60,000 individuals in camps across northwest Syria, addressing one of the region’s most critical needs.

Social Welfare: Sustained Dignity and Protection

Qatar Charity allocated over $8 million to social welfare programs, impacting more than 161,000 beneficiaries. These initiatives included family and student sponsorships under the “Rofaqaa” program, as well as seasonal campaigns such as Ramadan iftar meals, Zakat Al-Fitr, and Eid al-Adha sacrifices. Additionally, the organization supported those affected by the earthquake in southern Turkey through multifaceted interventions in education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and housing across five provinces.
