Qatar Charity Supports Treatment Centers and Women Survivors of War in Sudan

With support from Qatari people and as part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts in Sudan, Qatar Charity has implemented a new intervention to contribute to achieving food security and providing essential supplies to vulnerable groups and the neediest shelters in the Red Sea State, eastern Sudan.

Qatar Charity field teams distributed food baskets in Port Sudan, including the Qadireen Center, the first charitable addiction treatment center in Sudan, and the Aman Center for Female Survivors, as part of the project "Providing Meals and Living Supplies to Displaced Persons."

Lubna Ali, head of the Bet Mekli Organization, expressed her appreciation for Qatar Charity's efforts in supporting the Alex Kafouri Aman Center for Female Survivors in Port Sudan. She added that this support will be of great help, especially since this group includes children and pregnant women who need adequate nutrition. She pointed out that the food support provided by Qatar Charity has positive psychological and social effects on the survivors. She also explained that, in addition to the survivors' center, part of the aid will be delivered to the "Qadeereen" Addiction Treatment Center in the Shuqar area of ​​Port Sudan, the first charitable center of its kind in Sudan.

The food aid included the "That Al-Nitaqayn" shelter center in Port Sudan.

Naji Awad Muhammad Ubaid, the center's supervisor, said: "This support is not unusual for the State of Qatar, as we are accustomed to its usual generosity."

Qatar Charity field teams also distributed food supplies to displaced persons and needy families from various states in Sudan, with the aim of alleviating the living hardship faced by many families affected by the war, given the difficulties in obtaining food. Several displaced women expressed their appreciation for the ongoing food aid provided by Qatar Charity since the outbreak of the war. They confirmed that they received basic food supplies, such as flour, oil, rice, lentils, milk, and sugar, with generous support from charitable people and philanthropists in Qatar. Umm Abdullah, a beneficiary at the That al-Nitaqayn Center, said that Qatar Charity did not fall short throughout her displacement from Khartoum to Port Sudan. She added that the support has continued for the third consecutive year since the outbreak of the war, contributing to alleviating the suffering of affected families.
