Doha – Qatar, August 2025

Amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Yemen, which has left 4.5 million children deprived of education, Qatar Charity, with support from the generous people of Qatar, has carried out a series of targeted interventions to revive the education sector in the most affected areas. These interventions, implemented throughout 2024 and into mid-2025, have benefited thousands of students and hundreds of educational staff across various governorates.

A Motivating Educational Environment

The executed projects included the renovation of schools, construction of classrooms, provision of school supplies for students, school furniture, teacher support, and the promotion of school health. These efforts contributed to the continuity of education in a safe and motivating environment across several districts in the governorates of Taiz, Ibb, Sana’a, and Hajjah.

The interventions included renting a temporary building for a destroyed school, rehabilitating and maintaining 6 government schools, renovating 43 classrooms, and building 9 new classrooms. Additionally, 730 double desks were provided to improve the classroom environment, along with the construction of new restrooms and installation of 6 water tanks to ensure cleanliness and student safety. Moreover, 5,369 schoolbags and uniforms were distributed to students, including those with special needs, along with schoolbags and incentives for 125 teachers.

In the Sala district of Taiz governorate, a temporary building was rented for two years to replace the destroyed Salahuddin Al-Ayyubi school, providing schoolbags and uniforms for 400 students and offering financial incentives for 26 teachers.

In the Far’a Al-Addin district in Ibb governorate, comprehensive educational aid was provided to 5 schools. Each school received schoolbags, double desks, personal hygiene kits, first aid kits, and water tanks. Additionally, 4 schools in Ibb were rehabilitated, including the renovation of 27 classrooms, the construction of 15 restrooms, and the upgrading of administration offices, teacher rooms, libraries, and laboratories, alongside the provision of 150 double desks for students.

In Hajjah governorate, two schools were rehabilitated: one in Ain Ali, which included the renovation of the old building, construction of 3 classrooms, and creation of 3 restrooms. The second school, in Shamaakh – Bayt Al-Qateeb, underwent renovation, including the construction of 3 new classrooms and the rehabilitation of the administrative building.
