Qatar Charity (QC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health to construct a modern 400-bed hospital for women and children, funded by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD).
The MoU was signed during an official ceremony held at the Ministry’s headquarters, in the presence of H.E. Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, Minister of Public Health, H.E Mirdef bin Ali Al-Qashouti, Acting Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Kabul, in addition to distinguished representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO).
The MoU was signed by Mr. Munim Shah, Director of Qatar Charity’s office in Afghanistan, and Dr. Muhammad Hassan Ghayasi, Deputy Minister of Public Health.
Through this MoU, Qatar Charity aims to establish a fully equipped specialized hospital with a capacity of 400 beds in Kandahar, dedicated to providing healthcare services for mothers and children, as well as internal medicine.
In his remarks during the signing ceremony, H H.E Mirdef bin Ali Al-Qashouti, Acting Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Kabul expressed his delight that Qatar Charity has begun its operations in Afghanistan through this vital project, which is funded by QFFD. He affirmed that the hospital would serve Kandahar as well as the wider southern region.
For his part, H.E. Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, Minister of Public Health, expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to the State of Qatar for this initiative. He emphasized the project's significance in addressing urgent healthcare needs and noted the Ministry’s expectations for continued and expanded Qatari support in future health projects.
Mr. Mumin Shah, Director of Qatar Charity’s office in Afghanistan, provided a comprehensive explanation of the project, emphasizing that this day marked the beginning of a new chapter in Qatar Charity’s long-term commitment to the well-being of Afghanistan’s people.
The ceremony concluded with a shared message of hope, affirming that collaboration and mutual commitment form the foundation for building a healthier and more dignified future for all Afghans.
