With the generous support of benefactors in Qatar, Qatar Charity (QC) has completed 38 housing projects across Bangladesh over the past year (July 2024 – July 2025), providing secure and permanent homes for dozens of impoverished families.
These housing projects are part of Qatar Charity’s broader efforts to address the needs of vulnerable communities in Bangladesh.
Implemented in 22 districts, the initiative has transformed the lives of families who had long been struggling in fragile and unsafe shelters.
The housing projects were designed to provide decent, disaster-resilient homes for underprivileged families, many of whom previously lived in makeshift huts prone to flooding, storm damage, and collapse during heavy rains.
By offering a safe and stable environment, the project aims not only to protect lives and property but also to restore dignity, improve community health, and give the beneficiary families a foundation to rebuild their future.
Impact
For many families, the change has been life-changing. Md. Ayatullah, a beneficiary from Laxmipur District, said “This home gives us dignity in the community and allows us to focus on our children’s education and our work, instead of worrying about rebuilding after every storm,” he said.
Shariful Islam, another beneficiary from Bagerhat District, shared his relief: “For years, my children and I endured sleepless nights in a leaking hut whenever it rained. Now, we finally have a proper home where we feel safe and secure.”
Similarly, Jhangir Alam, a resident of Barisal District, described the project as the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. “I never thought I would live in a permanent house in my lifetime. Thanks to benefactors in Qatar, my family now has a roof we can proudly call our own,” he said.
Local officials also welcomed the initiative. Nazma Binte Amin, a local government official in Laxmipur District, praised Qatar Charity’s role in uplifting the needy.
“This initiative is a blessing for families who have long been deprived of proper housing. It not only improves living standards but also reduces the risk of displacement caused by floods and storms. We are grateful for this valuable support,” she said.
It is wroth mentioning that in the last year (July 2024 – July 2025) alone, Qatar Charity has implemented more than 2,000 projects across the country in diverse sectors, including water and sanitation, mosque construction, education, social welfare, economic empowerment, health, and emergency relief. These wide-ranging interventions have reached hundreds of thousands of people, strengthening resilience and contributing to long-term community development.
