Qatar Charity (QC), with the support of donors in Qatar, has handed over five advanced dialysis machines to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital in Jampur, Rajanpur, Punjab, Pakistan, significantly boosting the hospital’s capacity to provide free dialysis treatment to kidney patients in the region.
This initiative comes as part of Qatar Charity’s ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare services in remote areas and provide essential support to medical institutions serving the most vulnerable groups. It aligns with the organization’s humanitarian mission to alleviate the suffering of patients and improve their quality of life.
THQ Hospital in Jampur is the only healthcare facility at the tehsil level offering free dialysis services. For the past six years, the hospital has operated with a limited number of machines to serve a population of more than one million people, among whom an estimated 50,000 are affected by kidney-related illnesses and require regular dialysis.
Dr. Ammar Haider Bhutta, Medical Superintendent of THQ Jampur, highlighted the urgent need for this support. “With only six dialysis machines, it was not possible to accommodate all patients daily. At times, we have to refer patients to the District Headquarters Hospital, which created severe difficulties for them, often leading to dangerous delays in treatment. We are extremely grateful to Qatar Charity for this vital support. The addition of these machines brings the hospital’s total dialysis capacity to 11 units, ensuring timely and reliable care for patients battling chronic kidney disease.”
Mr. Zafar Iqbal, a 60-year-old beneficiary, expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating, "Prior to Qatar Charity's intervention, I often had to wait for long periods for dialysis, and sometimes I would return home without receiving treatment due to a shortage of machines. The additional machines provided by Qatar Charity have significantly streamlined our treatment process, enabling us to receive timely care."
Mr. Munawar Hussain, another beneficiary, shared: “I have been undergoing dialysis since 2019, and my wife, who works for daily wages, used to accompany me to the hospital. The long waiting times affected both my treatment and her ability to earn a living. Today, thanks to Qatar Charity, we receive treatment without delay, and our lives have improved significantly. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts.”
