Qatar Charity participated in a high-level event held in Cairo on October 20, highlighting joint Qatari Egyptian efforts to support the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, within the framework of ongoing humanitarian partnerships between the two countries.
The event was attended by Her Excellency Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Minister of International Cooperation of the State of Qatar, and Her Excellency Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The gathering also witnessed wide participation from numerous charitable and development organizations, including Qatar Charity, the Qatar Fund for Development, alongside representatives from international agencies and humanitarian partners.
Additional Humanitarian Assistance
On this occasion, Qatar Charity’s CEO, Mr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, announced the allocation of an additional $16 million for humanitarian interventions in Gaza.
Mr. Al-Kuwari emphasized that this support is intended to expand emergency assistance operations across Gaza, covering essential sectors such as food, water, healthcare, and shelter for civilians affected by the ongoing conflict. This additional allocation raises Qatar Charity’s total contribution to Gaza to $142 million.
He affirmed Qatar Charity’s steadfast commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in Gaza and enhancing urgent humanitarian responses to meet the basic needs of affected families.
Joint Coordination
Qatar Charity reaffirmed its commitment to close cooperation with the relevant authorities in Egypt, United Nations agencies, and partner organizations to expedite logistics, monitor distribution, and ensure effective delivery of aid.
Authorities have also undertaken the necessary diplomatic and operational measures to remove obstacles to aid delivery and facilitate the passage of humanitarian shipments.
In this context, Mr. Al-Kuwari stated:
“Our continued dedication to delivering lifesaving assistance has enabled us, over the past week, to transport more than 16,694 tents to Gaza via the land bridge between Doha and Al-Arish. In addition, 29,000 tents have been shipped by sea to the Port of Port Said, bringing the total number of tents provided through Qatar’s humanitarian efforts, coordinated via Egyptian logistics, to 75,264 by mid-November.”
He also expressed his sincere gratitude to Her Excellency Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad and Her Excellency Dr. Maya Morsi for their generous support and collaboration in facilitating humanitarian efforts in Gaza initiatives that positively impact thousands of families and strengthen the spirit of solidarity between the two brotherly nations.
These efforts form part of ongoing Qatari initiatives via the Qatar Humanitarian Land Bridge, coordinated with Egypt and Jordan, delivering tens of thousands of tents, blankets, cooking utensils, food, medical supplies, and drinking water to address the urgent needs of hundreds of thousands of displaced people in Gaza. These initiatives also include an additional $20 million in support to meet critical humanitarian needs.
