Qatar Charity participated in the ceremony organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with United Nations organizations in Qatar, marking United Nations Day, which falls annually on October 24.
Qatar Charity’s participation in the UN Day event reflected a vivid model of the effective partnership between national humanitarian organizations and international bodies, in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the promotion of humanitarian action worldwide.
As part of the event, Qatar Charity showcased a photo exhibition highlighting its joint projects with UN agencies, illustrating the strategic relationship that connects development and humanitarian efforts. The exhibition also featured products from Qatar Charity’s innovative initiative “Nafla”.
Representing Qatar Charity at the event were Mr. Faisal bin Rashid Al-Fuhaid, Assistant CEO for the Social Development Sector, and Mr. Abdulaziz Hajji, Director of Development Operations.
On this occasion, Mr. Abdulaziz Hajji stated:
“We are pleased to participate in the UN Day celebration, which reflects the depth of cooperation between Qatar Charity and the United Nations agencies. This partnership has created multiple opportunities for joint action, both inside and outside Qatar, to support local and international development. The ‘Nafla’ initiative has made a remarkable impact on supporting productive families through sustainable projects that generate income and empower beneficiaries.”
From her side, Ms. Alreem Al-Ali, Support and Development Specialist and “Nafla” initiative Officer at Qatar Charity, said:
‘Nafla’ is a humanitarian initiative that embodies the spirit of giving and empowerment. Its name, derived from the Arabic word for ‘spoils’ or ‘gains,’ symbolizes the reward that donors can see and touch the tangible result of their contribution. The initiative aims to empower beneficiaries of Qatar Charity’s programs, both in Qatar and abroad, by developing their skills and transforming their creativity into productive, economically and socially valuable outputs. This aligns with the principles of sustainable humanitarian development and turns giving into a visible impact of hope.
She added that the exhibition offered artisans an opportunity to showcase their products in a cultural market reflecting the diversity of humanitarian creativity.
Humanitarian Partnership
During the event, Qatar Charity also presented a collection of photos and projects implemented in collaboration with several UN agencies, such as the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). These projects included efforts to improve maternal and child health services in Yemen under difficult humanitarian conditions, as well as emergency response operations to crises threatening thousands of displaced families.
The exhibition highlighted ongoing cooperation with UN bodies in providing shelter, protection, and support to vulnerable populations, particularly displaced persons and refugees, emphasizing the comprehensive humanitarian role played by Qatar Charity.
Qatar Charity’s contributions extended beyond health and relief efforts, encompassing education and livelihood programs that empower affected communities. Through impactful visuals, the exhibition documented field operations and humanitarian aid delivery, underlining Qatar Charity’s commitment to sustainable impact.
