Qatar Charity (QC) has signed a strategic cooperation protocol with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Bamako, Mali, to bolster humanitarian response and provide vital support to refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and host communities across the country.

The signing ceremony was attended by H.E Hamad bin Muazzi Al Shammari, Acting Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Mali. The agreement was signed by Mr. Said Zoulgami, Country Director of Qatar Charity’s Mali branch, and Mr. Pierre Camara, UNHCR’s Representative in Mali.

This milestone agreement builds on a longstanding partnership between the two organizations and spans key sectors, including protection, education, water and sanitation, livelihoods, housing, and social cohesion.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Said Zoulgami stated: “We are proud of this collaboration, which reflects our shared commitment to restoring dignity and hope for the most vulnerable. Through this protocol, we aim to bridge the gap between emergency relief and sustainable development, while strengthening the resilience of refugees and host communities.

For his part, H.E Hamad bin Muazzi Al Shammari emphasized: “This agreement embodies the humanitarian values that unite the State of Qatar and UNHCR, reinforcing our joint efforts to support refugees and host communities in a way that promotes security and stability.”

Mr. Pierre Camara, UNHCR’s Resident Representative in Mali, welcomed the partnership, commending Qatar Charity’s decade-long commitment to supporting refugees in the country and underscoring Qatar’s influential role in advancing UN-led humanitarian efforts worldwide.
