Qatar Charity (QC) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) convened a strategic meeting in Doha to explore ways to deepen their humanitarian partnership and expand cooperation in supporting refugees and displaced persons amid growing global challenges.
During the opening session, Mr. Nawaf Abdulla AlHammadi, Deputy CEO for Programs and Communication at Qatar Charity, stressed the need for stronger partnerships to deliver more integrated and innovative responses to escalating humanitarian crises. “Qatar Charity’s partnership with UNHCR has become a leading example in delivering impactful humanitarian and development programs that have reached millions,” said AlHammadi. “This collaboration reflects mutual trust and a shared vision rooted in authentic humanitarian values and a responsible commitment to the most vulnerable. Today, we look forward to a more flexible and expansive partnership that bridges urgent relief with sustainable solutions—particularly in education and livelihoods—while leveraging efficient financing tools to meet real needs and achieve tangible results. The scale of current crises demands collective action built on complementary roles and measurable outcomes, with strategic partnerships remaining a cornerstone for more effective humanitarian responses.”
Mr. Khaled Khalifa, Senior Advisor to the High Commissioner and UNHCR Representative to the GCC countries, highlighted the importance of the partnership with Qatar Charity in addressing the needs of refugees and displaced communities. “We appreciate Qatar Charity’s strategic partnership in supporting forcibly displaced people,” Khalifa said. “Amid global funding shortfalls, such collaborations are important to sustain hope and deliver lifesaving assistance where it’s needed most.”
The meeting reviewed both organizations’ strategic visions and focused on expanding cooperation at regional and field levels, aligning technical priorities. Discussions centered on developing more sustainable solutions—particularly in education and livelihoods—alongside improving emergency response integration and closing service gaps.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of joint advocacy, communication, and awareness efforts, as well as active participation in international platforms and events to amplify shared humanitarian messages. Participants emphasized adopting flexible, multi-year funding models to support sustainable programs and exploring innovative financing mechanisms to address global funding challenges. Additionally, the meeting called for enhanced joint field visits to boost partnership efficiency and impact, and for collaborative programs and advocacy initiatives to better serve refugees and displaced populations.
