In 2025, over 300 million people around the world required urgent humanitarian assistance and protection, as multiple crises escalated with devastating consequences for affected populations.
At the close of a year marked by polycrisis and escalating humanitarian needs, WeWorld and Qatar Charity have signed a strategic framework agreement during the Doha Forum to reinforce collaboration in humanitarian settings and crisis response. This partnership aims to deliver coordinated and impactful interventions in regions affected by conflict and emergencies, starting with Afghanistan.
Today, humanitarian crises are increasingly multifaceted, complex, and protracted, reflecting the interconnected nature of the challenges that drive them. Whether caused by armed conflicts, natural disasters, economic collapse, or climate change, these crises are defined by their devastating impact on human lives and livelihoods. The framework agreement responds to the growing need for sustained engagement in fragile contexts, such as Afghanistan, where humanitarian needs remain acute and long-term resilience is essential.
The signature ceremony took place within the framework of the Doha Forum, a leading global platform for dialogue and diplomacy. The Forum’s 23rd edition was held under the theme: “Justice in Action: Beyond Promises to Progress,” emphasizing the urgency of transforming commitments into concrete solutions for global challenges.
Marco Chiesara, President of WeWorld, stated:
"This agreement marks an important step in strengthening our capacity to respond to humanitarian crises. By joining forces with Qatar Charity, we aim to maximize impact and reach those most in need, starting with Afghanistan and expanding to other contexts where urgent action is required looking especially at the hard-to-reach areas, where the needs are much higher."
Mr. Nawaf bin Mohammed Al-Hammadi, Deputy CEO for Programs and Communication at Qatar Charity, added:
"Formalizing this partnership with WeWorld reflects Qatar Charity’s commitment to advancing principled, people-centered humanitarian action that upholds the dignity of those most affected by crises. Through this framework, we aim to strengthen our collective ability to anticipate emerging needs, support long-term resilience, and ensure that assistance reaches communities where vulnerability is greatest. We look forward to building on this shared vision—starting with Afghanistan—to deliver real and lasting impact."
