Backed by the generosity of Qatar’s donors, Qatar Charity (QC) carried out 256 humanitarian and development projects across Gambia in 2025, benefiting nearly 90,000 people. The initiatives span water, education, housing, health, food security, orphan care, and emergency relief, with a strong focus on supporting sponsored orphans.

Water and Sanitation

In the water and sanitation sector, Qatar Charity implemented 42 projects to provide safe drinking water, build sanitation facilities, and promote hygiene awareness, reaching 25,000 people. It also distributed 2,900 individual water filters for children and 300 family filters in rural areas, reducing waterborne diseases.

Education and Social Care

In education, Qatar Charity supported schools and Quran memorization centers by providing 1,000 school desks, 500 solar-powered lamps, and 1,300 school bags, benefiting over 11,300 people. It also built a mosque serving 300 worshippers.

Through its sponsorship program, Qatar Charity supported more than 1,500 orphans, needy families, and persons with disabilities, while empowering them economically. Initiatives included distributing 45 electric cargo tricycles, 38 auto rickshaws (tuk-tuks), 154 kitchen sets, 19 electric wheelchairs, 56 sewing machines, and medical devices such as 29 blood pressure monitors and 16 glucose meters. Additionally, 46 families received solar lamps, 700 school bags were distributed, and 10 women’s cooperatives were established for grain milling projects. The total number of beneficiaries from these interventions reached 8,797 people.

Health and Food Security

Qatar Charity’s health interventions reached over 15,000 people, supplying the Ministry of Health with 1,171 blood pressure monitors, 81 electric wheelchairs, and 600 manual wheelchairs, organizing medical convoys in four provinces, and supporting hospitals with medicines and dialysis machines. A feasibility study for a multi-specialty hospital was also completed, with construction set to begin in early 2026.

In food security, Qatar Charity implemented 16 sheep-rearing projects for 112 beneficiaries and 14 poultry projects for 98 beneficiaries, alongside seasonal aid benefiting 10,000 people through Ramadan food baskets and Eid Al-Adha meat distribution. Emergency relief supported 3,000 flood victims with food baskets, essential supplies, 100 tents, 500 kitchen sets, and water filters, benefiting nearly 4,000 families.

Economic Empowerment

To boost livelihoods, Qatar Charity launched projects creating jobs for women and youth, providing 85 electric cargo tricycles, 92 auto rickshaws (tuk‑tuks), 100 grain mills, 262 sewing machines, and 83 income-generating ventures such as shops, vegetable stalls, and motorcycles.
