Qatar Charity Implements Winter Project to Support 532 of the Most Vulnerable Families in Northern Syria

As part of its humanitarian response to the harsh winter conditions, Qatar Charity implemented a winter project targeting 532 families of orphans and families with special needs in the Tal Rifaat and Azaz areas of northern Syria. This initiative is part of its ongoing efforts to alleviate the hardships faced by the most vulnerable groups during the winter season.

The project involved distributing winter clothing vouchers through a flexible distribution mechanism that ensured the dignity of the beneficiaries and met their actual needs. Contracts were established with local shops in the project areas, allowing beneficiary families to choose suitable winter clothing for themselves and their children according to their specific needs and sizes. This approach positively impacted the quality of the response and increased beneficiary satisfaction.

On this occasion, Mr. Karam Ali, Director of Qatar Charity’s office, said: “This winter project comes as part of Qatar Charity’s ongoing commitment to supporting the most vulnerable families, especially orphans and families with special needs, during harsh weather periods. We were keen to adopt a mechanism that ensures the dignity of beneficiaries and gives them freedom of choice, thus meeting their actual needs and alleviating their suffering during the winter season.” This project reflects Qatar Charity’s commitment to implementing humanitarian interventions that consider the human and social dimensions, contributing to providing necessities that preserve the dignity of beneficiary families and help them overcome the difficult winter conditions.

The beneficiaries’ happiness

This aid brought joy to the hearts of the beneficiaries, who expressed their happiness at receiving it. Aya Hassan Haj Ali says: “I live in the city of Azaz and I am the mother of the orphaned child, Hanadi.

My loss was twofold when my husband passed away just one month before my daughter was born, leaving her fatherless. With the arrival of winter, our burden increases, but the winter clothing project implemented by Qatar Charity was like a helping hand. I cannot describe my happiness seeing my daughter wearing new clothes to protect her from the cold. May God reward you. You have brought joy to my daughter and warmth to us..”
