The Embassy of the State of Qatar in Ghana, in cooperation with Qatar Charity, organized a variety of sporting events to mark National Sports Day. The Chargé d'Affaires of the Qatari Embassy in Accra, Mr. Abdulhadi Al-Hajri, participated in the event.
The event included an unconventional football tournament for orphaned children sponsored by Qatar Charity in the Ghanaian capital, Accra. The energetic and enthusiastic orphans were divided into several teams that competed for valuable symbolic prizes. The winning teams, showcasing promising football talents, were honored.
On the sidelines of the National Sports Day celebrations, which target all age groups, a friendly football match was organized between members of the Embassy of the State of Qatar and the Qatar Charity team, in an atmosphere brimming with energy and enthusiasm. The participation of orphaned Ghanaian children in Qatar's National Sports Day celebrations added to the festive atmosphere. The children expressed their joy at taking part in the tournament, and although the winners were honored at the end of the competition, all the children shared a common victory, demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and broad smiles of satisfaction at the tournament's conclusion.
It is worth noting that Qatar Charity places special emphasis on sports, having launched numerous impactful initiatives and systematically supported various programs and projects that promote the role of sports as an effective tool for achieving development, peace, and social cohesion.
