Qatar Charity’s Alaqraboon Center launches ‘Smart Coupon’ service for food aid

2/19/2026

As part of its efforts to develop innovative digital solutions that support charitable work, Qatar Charity’s (QC) Alaqraboon Center has launched the “Smart Coupon” service—one of its first flagship initiatives designed to provide food assistance to low‑income families in Qatar through a modern approach that preserves beneficiaries’ privacy and ensures efficient and reliable delivery of aid.

The service has been launched, in cooperation with Taqat Trading and Business Solutions, the technical developer of the platform, and Meera Consumer Goods Company, the first service provider partner.

The launch event also witnessed the signing of two memoranda of understanding with Al Meera and Taqat.

The initiative is being implemented under Qatar Charity’s Ramadan Campaign for this year, “Good Starts With You,” which focuses on placing donors at the heart of the giving process while enhancing the speed and quality of development project and humanitarian and social assistance starting this year.

The service was launched in the presence of Mr. Mohamed Al Ghamdi, Deputy CEO of Governance and Corporate Services at Qatar Charity; Mr. Faisal AlFehaida, Executive Director of the Alaqrboun Center, Mr. Mohammed Rashid AlKaabi, Chairman of QC Companies, and Mr. Jassim Mohammed Al Ansari, CEO of Al Meera.

The project reflects Alaqraboon Center’s commitment to adopting modern mechanisms that meet beneficiaries’ needs. A total of QAR 5 million has been allocated to the initiative, enabling families to choose their food needs within carefully designed categories that ensure fair distribution and comprehensive support.

The Smart Coupon service is based on direct digital link with service providers, led by Al Meera as the first partner in the project implementation, allowing beneficiaries to use the coupon directly and flexibly at retail outlets.

The Smart Coupon uses a QR code instead of paper vouchers, making it easy to use while protecting beneficiaries’ privacy. It allows them to choose the food items they need and complete their purchase quickly and smoothly at stores.

Eligible families can apply through the Alaqraboon mobile application, with requests reviewed and approved within 48 hours based on verified data and thorough validation procedures to ensure assistance reaches those most in need. The service also allows donors to make instant donations, which will be directly linked to the coupon system, ensuring swift and effective delivery of support.

On this occasion, Mr. Mohamed Al Ghamdi, Deputy CEO of Governance and Corporate Services, said that the launch of the Smart Coupon service marks a qualitative step toward facilitating access to basic needs for low‑income families in Qatar during Ramadan. He noted that the initiative relies on advanced digital solutions that ensure the speed and accuracy of aid delivery while preserving beneficiaries’ dignity, praising the role of the Alaqraboon Center and the partnership with Al Meera in enhancing the quality of social services.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Faisal Rashid AlFehaida, Executive Director of the Alaqraboon Center, said the initiative reflects Qatar Charity’s commitment to developing the social care sector in Qatar, which has become one of its largest areas of work. He explained that this is being achieved by enhancing services that promote transparency, improve the use of resources, and respect beneficiaries’ privacy through advanced, easy‑to‑use digital solutions, while supporting Qatar Charity’s direction toward faster and higher‑quality project implementation starting this year. He also thanked Taqat for developing the service and Al Meera for its longstanding partnership with Qatar Charity and its role as the project’s service provider.

Mr. Mohammed Rashid AlKaabi, Chairman of QC Companies, said the Smart Coupon service shows Qatar Charity’s commitment to using digital solutions to improve charitable work, strengthen partnerships with local companies, and ensure aid reaches those in need quickly and efficiently.

Similarly, Mr. Jassim Mohammed Al Ansari, CEO of Al Meera, said the company is pleased to partner in the Smart Coupon initiative, describing it as an important step toward providing innovative digital solutions that serve beneficiaries, while reaffirming the company’s commitment to meeting their needs and supporting the initiative’s future development.
