Qatar Charity carried out a new relief intervention for displaced people from El Fasher and Greater Darfur in Khartoum State. Qatar Charity field teams in Omdurman distributed food baskets, shelter assistance and non-food items to hundreds of families.

Wada’a Al-Amin, representative of the Voluntary and Humanitarian Work Commission in Khartoum State, said that Qatar Charity provided generous support to displaced people from El Fasher who arrived in Khartoum State due to the war. He noted that the support covered around 400 displaced families from El Fasher, under the supervision of the Commission to ensure assistance reaches those who are eligible.

Several displaced people from El Fasher expressed their deep appreciation to Qatar Charity and to benefactors from the State of Qatar for their continued giving, which has helped ease the severity of the humanitarian crisis. Assistance was distributed to the displaced from El Fasher, followed by the distribution of food baskets, blankets, hygiene kits and essential medicines to displaced people who arrived in Khartoum State and needed humanitarian support.

A representative of the Darfur Displaced Committee in Khartoum State, Al-Wafid Al-Sirr, said they thank Qatar Charity for providing humanitarian assistance to families displaced from the different Darfur states. He explained that more than 22,000 displaced people from Darfur have been registered in Khartoum and need further humanitarian aid until the ordeal is overcome. He also expressed hope that the causes of displacement will cease and that all displaced people will return to their areas once again.

Tariq Mohi Al-Din, Acting Director of the Sudan Office, revealed that 470 food baskets containing essential staple items were distributed, along with 1,000 blankets, 500 personal hygiene kits, and considerable quantities of essential medicines.

He explained that during the current month Qatar Charity implemented a major project that included four humanitarian convoys for displaced people from El Fasher in the Al-Dabbah area, covering food, livelihoods, health, and dignified shelter. Implementation of high-impact humanitarian projects will continue in several states in the coming period.
