As part of its mission to improve access to education, Qatar Charity has commenced the construction of two primary schools in the Republic of Djibouti in Partnership with the ministry of national education and vocational training. The project aims to provide children with safe, inclusive learning environment and contribute to strengthening the country' s education sector.
The ceremony was attended by H.E. Mostafa Mohamed Mahmoud, Minister of National Education and Vocational Training; H.E. Sultan bin Jaber Al Hanzab, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Djibouti; Hassan Dableh, Governor of Arta Region; the Deputy of Damerjog district; ministry officials and advisers; representatives of government entities; local dignitaries; and Qatar Charity’s team in Djibouti.
The project responds to growing needs in the education sector and aims to provide children with a safe, well-equipped learning environment. It is also expected to help ease classroom overcrowding, improve the quality of educational services, and enable students to learn in modern facilities that meet essential educational standards
Speaking at the ceremony, H.E. the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training said the project reflects the strong fraternal relations between Djibouti and Qatar and underscores the effective partnership with Qatar Charity in supporting the education sector
He noted that investing in education is an investment in the nation’s future, adding that the new schools will create better learning opportunities for children and improve educational conditions in the target areas. He also praised Qatar Charity’s humanitarian and development efforts in Djibouti, describing its projects across various sectors as a successful model of cooperation in support of the Sustainable Development Goals.
For his part, Hassan Dableh, Governor of Arta Region, said the initiative reflects Qatar’s commitment to supporting human development in brotherly countries. He stressed that education remains a top priority for the Djiboutian government, noting that such projects contribute to building human capacity, empowering future generations, and strengthening the longstanding relations between Qatar and Djibouti.
He added that the project is a valuable addition to the region’s educational infrastructure and will help meet the needs of families and students, while commending Qatar Charity’s role in supporting local communities through projects with a sustainable impact.

She also praised the close cooperation with the Ministry of National Education and relevant government entities, which she said played an important role in bringing the project to fruition.
The Deputy of Damerjog district highlighted the significance of the project for residents, saying the two schools will provide children with a better learning environment and help ease the burden on families amid rising student numbers. She expressed appreciation to the State of Qatar and Qatar Charity for their continued support.
At the end of the ceremony, senior guests laid the foundation stone, marking the official start of implementation work. The project is expected to increase school capacity, reduce dropout rates, improve academic achievement, and support social and economic development in the region.
