With generous support from Donors in Qatar, Qatar Charity has implemented a package of economic empowerment projects in Niger to help low-income families and vulnerable groups improve their livelihoods and achieve greater self-reliance.
The projects aim to move beyond short-term assistance by providing beneficiaries with practical tools that enable them to start income-generating activities, enter the labor market, and build a more stable future for their families.
As part of the initiative, 121 sewing machines were distributed to 242 women, most of whom are graduates of vocational training centers specializing in sewing. The support enables them to transform their skills into small businesses capable of generating regular income and meeting their families’ daily needs.
Qatar Charity also handed over three-wheeled motorcycles to several beneficiaries in coordination with the relevant government authorities in Niamey. Motorcycles will help beneficiaries engage in transportation, commercial services, and goods distribution within local communities.
These interventions are expected to stimulate small-scale economic activity, facilitate access to goods and services, and create direct and indirect job opportunities. They also help reduce families’ dependence on direct aid by strengthening their ability to meet essential needs, including education, health care, and food.
Through these projects, beneficiaries receive not only work tools, but also opportunities to build dignified sources of income, develop their capacities, and contribute to the economic activity of their communities.
Qatar Charity said the projects reflect the strong impact of charitable giving from Qatar and the importance of effective partnerships with local authorities in Niger in implementing sustainable development initiatives that help reduce poverty and promote social and economic development.
The initiatives form part of Qatar Charity’s broader approach to sustainable development, which combines training, empowerment, and the provision of productive assets to help beneficiaries move from need to productivity and active participation in economic life.
By investing in people, building their capacities, and providing tools for economic independence, Qatar Charity seeks to transform the generosity of benefactors into sustainable projects that open new doors of hope and improve the living conditions of vulnerable families in Niger.
