Qatar’s Ambassador to Mauritania, H.E. Shaheen bin Ali Al Kaabi, hosted a ceremony honoring doctors and healthcare professionals who took part in Qatar Charity’s medical campaigns in the country, recognizing their efforts to provide specialized care for children.

Changing children’s lives

The ambassador thanked Qatar Charity and donors in Qatar for supporting the initiatives. He praised the results of the campaigns to treat children with heart defects and provide cochlear implants, highlighting their impact on children and their families.

He also commended Mauritania’s Ministry of Health for its cooperation and support, and thanked the National Cardiology Center and the Specialties Hospital for helping ensure the campaigns’ success. He praised the medical teams, consultants and healthcare staff for their dedication and humanitarian efforts.

Investing in healthier futures

Ibrahim Al-Janahi said the ceremony recognized exceptional efforts whose impact went beyond medical treatment. The campaigns had given some children the opportunity to hear the voices of loved ones and friends, while giving others the chance to lead healthier, safer lives.

He said Qatar Charity views investment in health as an investment in the future of communities. He reaffirmed its commitment to working with partners in Mauritania to deliver further specialized healthcare initiatives and reach those most in need.

Outlining the results, Omer Abdelaziz Mohamed said the heart defect treatment campaign provided care for 43 children, while 12 children benefited from the cochlear implant campaign. He said these outcomes were made possible through cooperation with the Ministry of Health, healthcare institutions and specialist medical teams in Mauritania.

Strengthening partnerships

Cheikh Baye Ould M’Khaitrate said the campaigns’ success demonstrated the importance of cooperation in providing specialized treatment for children and easing the suffering of children and their families.

He said the campaigns also helped local healthcare professionals exchange expertise, develop their skills and learn about new medical techniques. He called for stronger cooperation and an expansion of the initiative.
