Qatar Charity’s (QC) office in the Gaza Strip, with the generous support from benefactors in Qatar, managed to renovate 215 homes for poor families living under the harsh economic and social conditions.  The total cost of this project, which was recently completed, amounted to around QR5.5mn, benefiting nearly 1742 people.

Other home renovation projects are expected to be implemented in the Gaza Strip during the current year 2019 to contribute to improving the living conditions of poor and needy families.

Mohammed Abu Haloub, director of QC’s office in the Gaza Strip said the project contributed effectively to creating a healthy environment suitable for the poorest people by providing services and aids in the field of home renovation for the poor.

He added that Qatar Charity would spare no effort in providing safe and secure housing for poor and needy families to ensure a decent life for them.

He also pointed out that the main factor that has driven the decision to renovate the homes is the deteriorating economic and living conditions of underprivileged families in the Gaza Strip.

The beneficiaries of the project expressed their pleasure at moving to safe homes, as they were used to suffer from rainwater flowing into their homes every winter.

Fadel al-Wahidi, a beneficiary of the home renovation project, who lives in the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, thanked the people in Qatar, saying “Thank you for protecting my family and children from the risk of seasonal drowning as a result of rainfall."

Ayad al-Nunmim, 40, a breadwinner for a family of five, who was awarded a restoration grant, said, “We did not dream of such a beautiful house before”. His family will life a decent live due to this project, he added.
