Qatar Charity invests voluntary capabilities in community service

Attaching great importance to voluntary activities, Qatar Charity (QC) has launched a variety of volunteering initiatives, programmes, and events to provide community service and pieces of trainings and promote the culture of voluntary activities within the country. This comes as part of Qatar Charity’s endeavor to contribute to achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030.

Qatar Charity’s voluntary programs aim to encourage people in Qatar to Support Charity Works, provide youths with opportunities to participate in community service and humanitarian action, and enhance cooperation and partnership with relevant volunteers.

Volunteer For Qatar

Recently, Qatar Charity has launched an initiative under the hashtag “#VolunteerForQatar” to contribute to the efforts made by the State of Qatar to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The initiative came to support the civil society, respond quickly to an emergency, and benefit from volunteers’ capabilities for community service.

The initiative has received an overwhelming response from the people in Qatar, both citizens and residents, recording the participation of more than 8,000 volunteers, who contributed significantly to the projects and assistance provided by Qatar Charity during the pandemic.

You Deserve the Reward

The ‘You Deserve the Reward’ initiative, launched by some Qatari youths, in cooperation with Qatar Charity, contributed to distributing Iftar meals and food parcels to workers and low-income families in the holy month of Ramadan.

Rescue Mission

Qatar Charity (QC) has launched the ‘Rescue Mission’ initiative, in cooperation with Qatari youth initiatives, as part of the relief campaign named “A call of Humanity” launched by Qatar Charity to contribute to helping and saving thousands of lives affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic around the world.

The rescue team consists of five youth initiatives, which are 974 Event Management, Sanad for Community Services, Future Compass, Our Hope, and Greener Future.

Qatar Charity has been designing a variety of programs for several years in support of community initiatives in Qatar.

Initiatives’ Challenge

This is a competition in which several voluntary youth initiatives compete to promote and finance community projects during the month of Ramadan, with the participation of youths and social media influencers.

Khair Homes

This is a competition among Qatari families in community entrepreneurship during the month of Ramadan. Each household designs a charity corner at home and puts a set of materials like toys and sweets for children, in addition to some necessary items for adults. Profits are then donated to a specific charitable project chosen by the household from Qatar Charity’s project directory, which is implemented by Qatar Charity on the behalf of the household.

The idea of the “Restoration Challenge” programme is based mainly on the competition between companies to carry out the maintenance and renovation of Low-income Families’ houses, in cooperation with community initiatives and companies. The programme continues throughout the year by repairing and furnishing old houses adequately, aiming at improving the social, psychological and health situation of low-income families, and achieving social solidarity to ensure a dignified life for all members of the community.
